My wife and I bought a large, rather tired and run-down property in South Devon with a view to renovating and upgrading it. Richard and Ed Farmer were recommended to us to carry out the building renovations and internal structural modifications. The work has taken just over two years, the bulk of it carried out in the first six months and the remainder sporadically over the next twenty months. Richard was the lead contractor for all building works and he also used his extensive knowledge of good quality local tradesmen to appoint specialist sub-contractors who completed all work to a high standard. The scope of work included external and internal structural modifications, rendering, plastering, lining out of rooms, the construction of a new bathroom, general carpentry and the renovation and rehanging of all internal doors. Externally work included earthworks, brick and block laying, landscaping, the construction of a terraced patio and tarmac works. It was clear from the very beginning that Richard and Ed knew what they were doing and carried out the work competently while maintaining a sense of humour. Jobs were completed on time and to budget - with the exception of any emerging work which was priced when the revised scope of work became clear.
Richard and Ed returned to our house after masterminding and delivering major renovations in 2016 and this time planned and installed a new kitchen for us. They dealt with the kitchen supplier and all the ancillary trades. We were away for the 2 weeks of the project. They had access to our house keys and alarm during this period. Not only are they great workers and very focussed on detail and finish but they are 100% trustworthy. They are “The Best in the West” as far as we are concerned. Many thanks Richard and Ed.
Richard and his team have done a fantastic job with a bathroom makeover at our old cottage in Shaldon. All the work was done in good time and they made some useful suggestions during the process which not only kept costs down but made the end result much better than we had originally planned. This is the third time we’ve used them at the cottage at the results have always exceeded our expectations.
We have used Richard and Ed for a variety of jobs big and small. Always reliable and fair on price, our go-to builder for all our jobs big and small as the finished job is always first class. Riverdale Estates
