I just wanted to write to say what a wonderful experience my family had with this funeral company. Geraint and his wife Annie were so incredibly kind and professional throughout that it made the most awful time for us bearable. We would have no hesitation in recommending this firm to you. Their care for our Gavin husband/Dad/Grandad was most highly appreciated.
Peate’s conducted my father’s funeral perfectly. They were extremely organised, courteous, respectful and amazing singers of hymns! I am so very grateful to them and would highly recommend them.
It is with great sadness that I have to submit this negative review for an undertaker. I never thought I’d be in this position but I feel that grieving families should read this review. R G Peate Funeral Directors were suggested to me by The Rhallt Nursing Home in Welshpool after my mother's placement . We had received a call from the Rhallt saying my mother was critical but sadly, after a long car journey, we were too late and my poor mother had passed away. You can imagine the state I and my family were in. To my horror, a male and female from R G Peate arrived at the care home. They didn’t greet us or introduce themselves or stand, staying slouched in grubby dark clothing and unkempt hair, legs splayed out taking up all of the room. Even after a staff member told them we were the grieving family they remained seated and slouched, it was disgusting. Only when I said directly to them “Are you taking care of my mother” did he stand up. We were offered no condolences or information on what would happen next. My daughter had to ask for their phone number. This wasn’t the middle of the night it was early evening. There was no excuse for their behaviour and grubby appearance they looked like they had been doingoutdoor work. Saying goodbye to my mother was rushed because these totally unprofessional people wanted to leave they had better things to do is the feeling i got . My daughter and I were horrified. The trolley used to carry my mother was also scruffy. A velvet zip up body bag which I wouldn’t have given to my dog, let alone my beloved mother , this was something i found distressing to see . At this point I have to state that my family have experience of undertakers. We lost my father and later my brother in tragic circumstances. I know how professional undertakers should behave and conduct themselves. This was not the case with R G Peate. On the journey home we were in total shock. No-one should experience what we had to deal with. The next morning i frantically contacted family in Shrewsbury to see they if they could recommended someone dignified to take care of my mother and i was told Frank Painter and Sons. What a different experience that was. Not only was Alan Painter a professional, he was caring, compassionate and reassuring and immaculate in his appearance. He gave me all the information I needed. We arranged for my mum to be moved into their care , and R G Peate was informed he was no longer my mother's undertaker but took advantage of this and drove my mother to Shrewsbury , how utterly terrible. This is such an important event in a families life. It needs to be treated with respect, kindness and dignity. Sadly this was not our experience at R G Peate. Sadly i had to give a star to submit this review
Excellent sensitive helpful and friendly service. I could not fault the way everything was carried out. I have no hesitation in recommending the services of RG Peate
