Barman was really friendly, beer was good, pub was quiet when we were there and they weren't doing food because there was no chef, otherwise cracking pub.
Bask in the glory of a time gone by. The pub has an atmosphere of faded glory and serves identikit pub grub burgers, chicken schnitzel, fish and chips etc, which is mediocre. The home made lasagne is excellent, however, as was the ham and chips, which was generously portioned and the ham very tasty indeed. We had a happy meal as a family, and the staff very friendly. It was lovely to be greeted with a sincere "Good evening" by the bar staff. Little touches like that go a long way. Two minor criticisms, a broken glass, cracked down one side, which should never have been offered and a substitute for a meal item that should never have left the kitchen: I liked the sound of a vegetarian jackfruit burger, but what appeared on my plate with no explanation of why it had been substituted was an extra cheap deep fried vege burger. You might be familiar with the school dinner type ones, similar to a cheap fish cake, but with sweetcorn, broccoli and peas in it. 0/10 and passed in to the staff for feedback to the kitchen.
Busy place down by the harbour great beer and really nice barman that made you vert welcome. Great place to sit out in the sun and watch the world go by.
Relaxed place on the sea front. Pleasant pint. Best to check food serving times before you go if that's what you are after.
Great little pub. Brilliant staff and the best cider to be found in Douglas well best I found!
Been here on a quite a few occasions over the years and have always loved the food, drink and atmosphere. However this time there was no food available because they have no chef and I was charged twice for a drink. I queried this at the time and was assured that a refund had been processed but it hadn't. Went back a few days later with proof that I had been double charged and they just weren't interested. I obviously won't be getting my money back and will definitely not be returning.
Worst pub in Douglas, staff are not at all welcoming and just grunt at you. The drinks come in plastic cups and if you order a soft drink don’t even expect a cup with it without having to pay extra for it. However, the bar weirdo in the corner against the bar gets a glass. Place has a terrible atmosphere too
Sadly has gone downhill. Heaters outside rarely work and it needs updating as well. Staff could use a course in manners at times.
Traditional pub with cask ales and decent bar food, staff were friendly and welcoming, nice atmosphere, all in all very pleasant
Not the place is once was, change of owners just taken over. They are doing their best with no staff and no chef so wait for beer and no proper food only pizza . Anyway hopefully the new people can learn from this and employ staff for TT fortnight.
