What an amazing pub! We feel so lucky to have found such an fantastic place to spend this evening. You have to go for the atmosphere, which has to be seen and the food is just wonderful, we only wish we were staying longer in this area. A big thank you to everyone there for your hard work in running such a brilliant pub.
My friend and her children came down to visit so we went looking for a pub for an evening meal. We stumbled across the sign for the pub and decided to give it a go! And what a find! We were so warmly welcomed by the staff. Seated at a table by the open fire. Nothing was to much for them! They accommodated all our needs. The food was home cooked and delicious and they are not shy on there portions! Price was very reasonable to! Definitely be returning with my family and friends to show them what a gem of a pub this is!
Nestled away off the main route from Hasting to Rye is this quant old pub. With views looking out on the wide spread nearby fields there’s an ample seating area to enjoy the countryside. A welcome greeting is always given and a wide bar allows enough room to give your order without having to crowd the bar area. A specials board gives a large choice of locally sourced food and seafood. We chose the mussels which came with choices of garlic bread or chips. They were served in a smooth garlic source which was delicious. Prices are very reasonable for quantity portions. Overall a wonderful place to eat. Booking in evenings are recommended
Beautiful old pub, roaring fire indoors. Fantastic views across the fields down to the sea. Staff very friendly and helpful. We had the ham and prawn sandwiches served with a salad and nachos which were very nice. Lovely place to visit after a long walk, we will be going back.
Very nice, traditional pub, with a good selection of local beets and an extensive food menu which includes many of the pub favourites. The service was efficient and friendly. We enjoyed our food and the atmosphere. Recommended.
It is class English pub and I love it: it was my 1 real pub in England in countryside:
Been here several times now for a meal. It is always a wonderful experience. My partner tells me that their beer keeping is second to none. Yesterday in a large family group seated inside, nothing was too much trouble from finding somewhere to hide mum's walker to sorting out separate bills for everyone. I had the mixed fish and chips which was delicious and the chips were amazing. Previously we have had curry, ploughman's and even a crab salad. All really lovely in a place with the most incredible views and welcoming atmosphere. We will be back.
Beautiful old pub, amazing food selection. We went for beer battered cod and the halloumi burger, both were delicious. Portion sizes are very generous which is always a plus, and at great prices! Service was top notch, in fact we’ve never had food come out so quickly! We sat outside with our dog, where there’s views over the countryside, it was lovely. We will be back!
Stopped for lunch there today and found a lovely table in a window with a good view of the log burner. The food was excellent and plentiful. I like ale and had a pint of very nice session beer 3.8%. The staff are very friendly and helpful and provided table service. We had a good time.
Fab interior, on a cold autumn evening with large open fire. Ordered a bowl of chips with my Real Beer, and was rewarded with a huge bowl full. Excellent value. Pleasant chat to the landlord who has also put in a large outdoor seating area for those who admire the view towards Rye.
