During my recent visit to the Quedam Shopping Centre in Yeovil, I was left with mixed emotions. The centre itself boasts a variety of shops and eateries that cater to a wide range of tastes and needs, making it a convenient hub for shopping and leisure. The layout is user-friendly, and the facilities are generally clean and well-maintained. However, my overall experience was marred by an incident that took place during my visit.nnWhile I appreciate the necessity for security in public spaces, I witnessed an unsettling situation where two young girls were apprehended by security staff. The scene escalated quickly, and the police were called to the scene. This incident created a tense atmosphere, which was quite discomforting and not what I expected during a routine shopping trip.nnThe response of the security team appeared excessive and certainly affected the shopping environment. It was disconcerting to see such a confrontation in what should be a relaxed and welcoming setting. This experience left me feeling uneasy and overshadowed the otherwise pleasant aspects of the centre.nnIn light of this, I believe a 3-star rating is appropriate for my trip to Quedam Shopping Centre. Security is, unquestionably, a critical aspect of public safety, but it should be balanced with the need for a hospitable and agreeable ambiance for all visitors. I hope this feedback is taken as constructive, and I look forward to seeing improvements in managing such situations in the future, aligning with the centre's reputable standing.
Nice shopping centre with a few good shops and places to eat. Lots of parking at a good price per hour.
Better lately with more venues open. An idea if anyone who makes decisions reads this: the town I've seen die with removal of traffic in it came back to life and thrive exponentially with venues renting out for 1€/month to local artists. That pulled curious people in, people stopped for coffee on the outdoor tables, people drinking coffee had time to look around and buy, little shops began to open, knitting, clothes, shoes, whatever ... In two years the town high street ran out of venues to rent for regular prices. Nobody had a problem with the parking being 300 yards away more so, safe for kids, seniors to walk and enjoy it all.nThe closed shops are the death of the whole of the town, life moves away, the true story of the town I described might be a solution.nHope this meets the right ears.
Just literally popped in to Yeovil town for the first time, now asking me about Quedam shopping Centre, we popped in to Mark's and Spencer, the area seems a bit sad much like most town's in the UK after Brexit and Covid-19
It's a shame that the council is spending so much money on the roads, paths, and seating, seeing as how most of the shops are now empty. Vicarage walk is now completely shut down. According to shop keepers, the rent is too high and is unsustainable. Yeovil council needs to do something quick or there won't be a need for all those new benches other than giving the homeless a bed for the night.
