I use PureGym’s washroom facilities whilst staying away for work.nnDirty toilets, dirty showers. Showers aren’t very private as the only thing stopping people from walking in on you is a glass pane. At least the pane is frosted! Showers don’t stay on for long so you need to keep pressing the button.nnWould not recommend but gym MAY be decent so I’ll give it a 2 star instead of one.
I've joined this gym around over a month ago, deciding that it was time to lose the weight. I've been to a gym 10 years ago but it wasn't that serious. I was a little nervous, wondering if this will work out, though I had more doubts about my diet since I was a fussy eater.nnThe induction was simple, but what I wanted, a simple idea of what's what. And Ange answered any questions I had. I didn't think strengthening machines like the leg press and what not, would be in my work out as I assumed cardio would be enough but as Ange told me, both provide a important role. So I was content with the information.nnStaff are friendly, though I mostly keep to myself, but shout out to the manager lady, I don't know her name, who witnessed me having a tumble on the treadmill when I thought I'd give jogging a try and falling trying to slow the machine down. She asked if I was alright - which I was, only my knees had a little scrape. Though I'd totally love to see the CCTV footage of me falling as that would be a laugh.nnThe showers gave me a heart attack only because there's no cubicles to privately change for those body conscious/awkward.nnOne month in and I'm coming as often as I can and using mostly treadmill and even the weight machines. So far, I've lost 1st. I do try make the most of the gym since paying 20 odd quid a month.nnThe gym isn't so scary anymore.
Decent gym but the toilets/ changing rooms have gone downhill massively. The smell is unbearable most evenings. This needs more attention from management
I joined this gym a month ago and tbh I couldn't be happier with it, equipment nicely spaced out, Ange is very friendly and supportive.I just wish it wasn't so busy in a morning but I manage to do what I need to do. All in all I'm loving this gym so far .
One experience and never again. Shocker ! Went to this puregym for a spin class, got there early to get some miles in before the class. Parking is pretty rubbish at this gym too as it’s in the corner of a much larger building with single row parking around the whole block. In the gym, all the spin bikes are just set by the door, up against a window and not in a dedicated studio or spin area. It’s effectively just rows of bikes by the window at the side of the gym I felt like a wasp in a window…..not great but hey ho, it’s a single floor gym so I’m guessing no one has really considered the layout properly. I was there at teatime on a Monday and the gym was packed with the mandatory groups of teens hanging around machines and chatting - not my circus, not my monkeys on this occasion. Anyway, the instructor turned up and started the class with what can only be described as total apathy for the session. I watched him carefully and while I won’t name him, I think it’s clear to say there was no engagement with the class, zero enthusiasm, just no joy at all. I go to several puregym and participate in a variety of instructor led sessions and this was awful. This guy clearly hates doing these and that came across loud and clear. I don’t know what on earth the gym Manager was thinking, allowing/encouraging him to do these sessions. I know the PTs don’t get paid for these classes and the aim is to use them as a window to advertise themselves as potential PTs. I can not for a second, imagine anyone doing this class and thinking, wow, I need this guy to help me. It was actually quite sad to see when you know what these classes can be like. Anywho, the session ended and while he didn’t remind anyone it’s good practice to get some kitchen roll and a squirt of disinfectant from a cleaning station and wipe down your bike……almost no one tried but when I got to the nearby station, the towel dispenser was empty. I then had a wander around the gym to find some paper towels but couldn’t find anyway. So….i wandered over to the office and just as i got there, a different PT was just opening the door to head in so I said, excuse me. Before I could finish asking him where the other cleaning stations were, he jumped straight in with ‘I’ve finished for the day, I can’t help you !’ Wow. I was stunned as everywhere else I’ve seen PTs at work, they’re normally eager to help and proactively looking to engage people….often because that’s how they find work as PTs in 121 sessions but also because some people are just decent and helpful by nature…..not this guy. If only I’d been quick enough to say, ‘I was looking for 20 121 PT sessions…but if you’re finished for the day, I’ll book with someone else’. Anyway, as he’d opened the offie door, I knocked and looked inside, explained the cleaning station had no paper towels and did they have any I could use to wipe the spin bike. Everyone including Mr Rude, the spin instructor and 2 others in there just gave me the gormless stare and no one responded at all. I stood there for what felt like ages but it was a probably only 5 or 6 seconds until I gathered myself and walked away. Absolute disgrace from start to finish. Avoid this gym like the plague. I’m not expecting Selfridges customer service levels or the enthusiasm of a Disney Show presenter but don’t be rude and adopt the basic levels of decency when dealing with anyone in the public….and if you can’t or won’t, maybe working in this sector isn’t for you.nnAddendum, following the response from Puregym below 8/4/25. The fact that you've sent a generic response with a request for more detail like I haven't provided detail above !! leads me to think you've probably not even read my complaint and certainly aren't interested in addressing the feedback....which is fine. My expectations weren't high.
