Camped here again. Had a great time. Staff are very friendly, site is clean and no issues whatsoever. Will come again.
Been to this place 3/4 times this year always amazing. Always in the camper with the dogs a great place for a family. Now the food We keep coming back so often as the food is top quality. Garlic mushrooms are 1 of my wife's favorites. Highly recommend and will keep coming back.
First time in a few years visiting the pub and was warmly greeted by a new owner. Food was great and to my surprise the night entertainment was awesome. Good to see their is still some rural pubs that look after their customers. Highly recommend as the kids enjoyed the park whilst me and my partner got to get time to relax
Not been here for a while and called in when passing and so pleased we did. The slow roasted belly pork was amazing! Young waiting staff were attentive and the pub itself was cosy, friendly locals, nice open fire, children’s playground what more can you ask for. We will be returning
Staff and regulars friendly. Dog friendly pub. Typical pub grub. Stopped over in our campervan. It did get quite noisy outside toward the end of the night but to be expected for a pub at the weekend. Would return.
Great pub. Arrived on a busy Saturday night without booking and they still managed to find a table for a group of 5. Food was excellent and very reasonably priced. Good home cooking. Friendly staff will definitely be going back.
Can't fault it. Great food and cold beer at reasonable prices! We stopped here on our way back from a walk in the moors becuse it seems to be the only place that serves food through the afternoon! Friendly staff, quick service and a decent open log fire!
Where do I start! We drove past this place a few times, as staying close by so decided to pop in for food. I wish I had read the reviews first, my gosh. Upon arriving, there were three people stood in the bar area, who I thought were just regulars at the pub, after staying at the bar for a few minutes a flustered woman on the phone came around and asked one of them to “jump on the bar”… they all worked there! The pub was empty and not one of them greeted us or anything until prompted! Anyway… we order food from the very limited menu The woman taking our order was absolutely lovely, she goes behind the bar again we are the only people in this pub so we can hear every conversation they’re having in front of us and relays the order to an older woman I can only assume is the “chef” if chef is the correct title for the person who served whatever we had! and in front of us this microwave chef actually complained, moaned and pulled faces about what we had ordered and how she didn’t like to prepare certain dishes as they were “messy in the fryer”. So uncomfortable, to be completely honest we should’ve probably left then, but as it was the only place near where we were staying, we thought we’d see if the food made up for the rubbish atmosphere and below par staff… It didn’t. Food arrived, first of all the fish was just covered in big rocks of salt, every mouth full was like chewing on just a ball of salt, again the curry, full of salt, the burgers the kids had, well that meat was just questionable… and lastly the side orders of onion rings and garlic bread, the onion rings were just rubbish, no flavour, and the garlic bread just had massive lumps of garlic on it. Honestly it was laughable… The person who I can only assumed was the manager came over and started clearing plates and asked it everything was okay, I told her the issue with the onion rings only as I didn’t want to seem too rude as obviously they’ve at least tried. Well let me tell you, when I said about the onion rings, she was saltier than the food! Her attitude completely changed and she just became pure rude, very passive. I should’ve read the reviews to be honest before going here, because based on the negative reviews she clearly cannot handle any kind of contrastive criticism and seems to constantly get irate if anyone says anything other than good about the place! Anyway, I paid, at the bar she didn’t say “thank you” or “goodbye” as soon I as paid contactless she stormed off… so I waited thinking she was just making sure the payment went through… nope. Just stormed off! Anyway, moral of this story, if a village has only one place to eat, doesn’t mean you should go there. I bet that’s the only reason they have “regulars” Also, this encouraged us to drive 20 minutes away to the nearest Morrisons and get food shopping for the week, as I’d much rather have a pile of pots every night whilst we’re on our little get away than ever having to stomach whatever mulch this place serves, ever again.
