Lovely little place with beautiful, tasty dishes. The menu had plenty of interesting, unique choices and was all reasonably priced. We had the French onion soup, lobster and shrimp cocktail, duck burger, and stone bass with bouillabaisse sauce. Will definitely be back to try some of the other dishes!
Our first visit, even though we are locals. I never really felt the restaurant seemed - that welcoming from the outside. But I'm glad we popped in today, as the food was lovely, great selection of dishes, good menu. We didn't go for the set lunch... but preferred to try out some more interesting dishes from the main selection. Glad we did. We very much enjoyed our visit...wine was excellent too. The staff were friendly, welcoming and professional. Looking forward to trying out their Sunday menu.
We haven't been to Provender for some time. Our visit was definitely worth while! We were seated right away. All the staff was looking happy which is always good to see. Their marinated olives are really tasty. I went for the roasted celeriac and it was absolutely divine. Thank you for the great experience and we'll be back sooner than you think.
Popular neighbourhood restaurant that needs upgrading. The French bistro menu promises much, but only reached the heights of passable terrine, and venison that struggled for flavour. Weak service.
Good food and the lunchtime Prix Fixe menu for £19 for three courses is great value. My only criticism is around the accuracy of information and menu descriptions provided. The "Market" fixed price menu now a good value £19 as opposed to £18.50 on the website is written on a small blackboard and lacks detail and sometimes doesn't match what is served. A rhubarb and apple crumble dessert arrived when a rhubarb pavlova was named on the menu. Water is free but bread is charged for as an extra. Some courses arrived containing nuts so care is needed to ask about allergies and the cost of the "specials" offered by staff. That said this is clearly and deservedly a popular destination for locals. Just be prepared to quiz your waiter about what the dishes comprise of, and be clear about what you have ordered.
Absolutely delicious food with a great atmosphere. French restaurant with French servers and chefs. There is a set menu or you can choose an individual dish. The set menu is not available on a Friday or Saturday night however. The house red wine was divine and the steak frites was cooked exactly to my liking. They even had pietra - a Corsican beer. Cannot wait to visit here again!
Classic French dishes that are perfectly executed. Wide ranging menu and great wines. Impeccable service! It’s so rare these days to have really good service that it’s is a joy when it’s down so discreetly, friendly and well. Portions were good and food delicious. Will definitely be back.
Cozy restaurant with hospitable staff. Every dish was delicious. Duck breast was juicy and tender, perfectly cooked with sweet Madeira sauce. Salmon platter was indeed good to try, it let me try out salmons they cook in various ways.
Much like the food here, Provender is simple, elegant and packs huge amounts of flavour in. Located at the far end of wanstead high street it may not be as obvious to venture to but this place is worth the trip. The elegant French cuisine is not ostentatious focusing on how it tastes over trying to be fancy. The burger is a easy win and their more traditional French dishes are great for all tastes. I challenge you to go here and not find something you will walk away not only happy but keen to come again.
Nice and cosy, the food is great value and tasty. Staff were friendly.
