Lincolnshire Probation Trust - Reducing crime by changing lives... At any one time supervising approximately 2,500 adult offenders in the county of Lincolnshire, who are serving Community Orders or on Licence from prison.
Lincolnshire Probation Trust is part of the National Offender Management Service (NOMS), an agency of the Ministry of Justice.
We work with offenders throughout Lincolnshire from our offices in Lincoln, Gainsborough, Grantham, Spalding, Boston, Skegness and Louth and in courts and prisons.
Our Mission
We will supervise offenders in ways that reduce the risk of re-offending and reduce the risk of harm to individuals in order to safeguard known and potential victims of crime, create safer communities and enable those with whom we work to lead crime-free and fulfilling lives.
The Aims of The Probation Service
To protect the public
To reduce reoffending
To provide for the proper punishment of offenders in the community
To ensure that offenders are aware of the effects of crime on the victims of crime and the public
To rehabilitate offenders
Lincolnshire Probation Trust delivers and enforces the Orders of the courts, both Magistrates' Courts and Cronw Court.
A community order can have up to 12 components or “requirements”, which allow judges or magistrates to tailor-make a sentence for each offender, to maximise the public protection and rehabilitative effect of the sentence.
The 12 requirements sentencers can choose from are:
Unpaid Work (Community Payback)
Accredited Programmes, aimed at changing offenders’ thinking and behaviour.
Exclusion from certain areas
Residence
Mental Health Treatment
Drug Rehabilitation
Alcohol Treatment
Supervision
Curfew
Prohibition from taking part in certain activities
Participation in specified activities, such as improving basic skills including reading, writing and numeracy
Attendance Centre
These requirements are overseen by Lincolnshire Probation Trust, though some are delivered by partner agencies such as Health Trusts or colleges of education.
