The best part of this hotel has to be the staff. No matter who we dealt with from reservations/reception to housekeeping staff, they all went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. I hope management pass this on to all staff as they deserve the credit. Public spaces were beautiful and comfortable and the scent they use throughout these areas is lovely. Improvements could be made in refreshing the lifts and ensuring that the beautiful sofas in the garden room are removed of stains. Perhaps adding dressing gowns in suites would enhance those room types if I was being picky. The location is excellent and easy walking distance to everything we planned to explore in York. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a stay in York.
A beautiful hotel, very grand but very welcoming, perfectly located next to York Station and all the highlights of York are within easy walking distance. My room was very comfortable, lovely and clean. The interior decor is very tasteful, in muted neutrals. Staff were polite, friendly and helpful. We didn’t have meals here as we’d planned to eat out at venues I wanted to visit. The bars are very nice and the Garden Room, with plenty of comfortable sofas and armchairs, is lovely to sit and have a drink and chat. I would highly recommend staying here. It’s a lovely hotel. I couldn’t fault it.
Hotel was lovely stayed in a junior suite which was beautiful and a good size. Location was very good quite close to all attractions. Staff were very friendly and helpful, we arrived at 1pm but was still able to check in as room was ready. Breakfast was delicious and it was great being able to have room service. Bar was good as well and the guy that served us was very friendly. We were celebrating my husband's 50th birthday and it couldn't have gone any better.
We had an overnight stay here recently and it was really lovely.nThe staff are so friendly, professional and knowledgeable.nThe architecture is stunning, with great attention to detail.nWe booked a garden view, but on arrival we were told that we'd been upgraded to a suite, which was absolutely beautiful.nOur only disappointment was the spa being closed, as when we booked, the website said it was reopening on 18th, so we booked for that day. Unfortunately it wasn't open; had we known we would have booked for different date.nWe did however have a wonderful stay, and would highly recommend.
Superb Victorian style hotel right in the centre of York. Wide choice of rooms. As soon as you walk in, you are quickly greeted by a friendly team at reception. Loved the main staircase. The postbox is a lovely touch as it saved us looking for one to post our cards. Room we stayed in was spacious and fresh. The bathroom was immaculate and shower area was well-sealed off from the rest of the bathroom. The colours in the room were relaxing to the eye. Our room overlooked the train station and, despite the sound proofing challenges around graded buildings, we cannot say that we have struggled with excess noise in the room.nnBreakfast was good and what stood out was the warm reception we have had from Cesar. He is such a breath of fresh air and was very keen on ensuring that we have a hearty breakfast!nnWe also loved the umbrella hire service. We were met by rainy weather during our stay in York and we never fetched an umbrella - so having this option was very welcomed.nnLooking forward to our next stay!
