Went to Cornwall at Christmas to see relatives. Hoped to book first class but needed to confirm with family, they would be able to collect me. That being sorted, alas booked seats were not available on the journey from Paddington following day. The service though to King's Cross was great. As for the booking staff at Potters Bar. Superb.
This railway station is within the Oyster zone and has the Oyster ticket machine in hall by the far end double door entrance. That said, this semi - dated station has two ticket machines which is not always in operation or does not accept card payments from time to time. Something is always up with these machines which are not frequently serviced. I have experienced both the ticket machines being out of commission or declines card payment services and if you dont have cash on you then you are going to have your problems, and the ticket office shut for their breaks and other members of staff are standing behind the ticket gates. The ticket office at most times operates a one window policy. The staff in general are helpful and approachable. There are male and female toilet facilities on the each platform including waiting rooms. I have found this station to be generally in a clean state. Big up to the cleaners, job well done.
A small station with a few shops.
Reasonably reliable trains
Conveniently located
