Lovely setting and food, pleasant staff but very inattentive unfortunately. Waited 20 mins for a menu, had lovely main course and would have stayed for coffee had our plates been cleared and we'd been asked. Restaurant was quiet but a few had come in for coffees so took all 3 servers to serve the counter and we were ignored. plates never cleared until after we left. a shame really as the food and setting are excellent.

We arrived about 15 minutes before their closing time on a Sunday Afternoon. We were 7 adults and 2 childen and they were happy for us to order from their sandwiches and sides menu. Food was brought fairly quickly and was indeed, as others have said, very nice and as I am a fan of local sourced ingredients it was nice to see some of their suppliers listed in the menu. So the adults were happy. The play park was very new looking and had some different equipment to the standard park. My 6 year daughter had her first go in a pedal go-cart and loved it (I might have had a go in the bigger one that was just about adult sized. ahem!...). The 4 year old with us loved the digger in the sand pit! So the children were happy!

Went last night with 2 friends to celebrate a birthday. Food was excellent the best I have had locally. Plenty of choice with good quality fresh ingredients cooked to perfection. Staff friendly and helpful. The big let down was the wood burning stove was not on. The restaurant was not cosy or warming enough to relax. Some diners kept their coats on. This was a shame as 1 of my friends said she probably would not go back or recommend it to anyone. I hope to change her mind and persuade her to give it another try.

Very nice place on our way between Cairngorm National Park and Stonehaven. Had tea and hot chocolate with scones on a rainy summer noon - perfect!
