First time visit today since school, saw Victory, Warrior and the Mary Rose. Excellent place to visit and if your lucky will see some active naval vessels. I was blessed to see HMS Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip, the aircraft carriers. Sadly only from a distance. But well worth a visit.
We had a lovely day here and have so many lovely days to come, as have the ultimate explorer ticket.nWealth of information, I learnt so much about HMS Victory, M033 and the Mary Rose.nMy daughter, 12 loved it, my son aged 9 loved the hands on activities.
The site is enormous, we went for 2 days and we have not seen everything yet. Would recommend, the staff are so friendly and very knowledgeable. Going to see the Mary Rose was a highlight, as i remembered watching it on tv being raised from the sea in 1982. We also went on the HMS Victory and HMS Warrior also well worth going to see, as you can walk all over the ships , there is a lot to see we need to go again to see the rest.
The Portsmouth Historic Dockyard is a must-visit for anyone interested in naval history. Stepping aboard HMS Victory and exploring the Mary Rose Museum offers a fascinating glimpse into Britain’s maritime past. The dockyard itself is beautifully located by Portsmouth Harbour, with stunning views and plenty to do nearby. The knowledgeable staff make the experience even better, offering insights and answers to questions about the ships and history. For families, it’s an educational and enjoyable day out. With various exhibits and historic ships to explore, it’s well worth the ticket price, especially if you take advantage of the combined attraction tickets. A perfect day for history buffs and families alike.”
The dockyard is very nice and interesting. Be sure to check the guided tour schedule for the HMS Victory in advance, as they provide an engaging introduction about the crew's life and the ship's weapons. The boat tour was excellent as well. If you prefer not to spend money on food and drinks, consider bringing your own. Don't miss the opportunity to visit the Mary Rose!
