This was a wonderful museum. It's a bummer that most of it is covered with a tent for repairs until approximately 2035. However, it's really neat to be able to go under the ship. Something a visitor normally can't do normally.nThe tour goes through multiple levels of the ship. There are steep stairs and very low ceilings. It's all worth it. Guided tours start every 30 mins. We did not have a reservation for a weekday in January. Our tour guide Neal was very nice and a well of information.
Just awesome! It is in the middle of huge conservation works, so much of the exterior is covered, but that really doesn't matter. It is just the most amazing thing to walk through the ship and to stand where Nelson fell and then go down four decks and stand where he died. Then to learn about the conservation work is fascinating stuff, supported by the Nelson Gallery in the building next door.nAlready looking forward to visiting in 10 years or so when it's all finished
I have visited before and off all the 3 historical ships to see, she is possibly the least interesting to view. Currently under a major restoration.nAll that being said still a huge and impressive piece of living naval history and a must see .nNo flash photography allowed and quite a few low deck heads and ladder chains to donLove being able to walk down and under the hull in the dry docknBig bonus is the free audio tour available
Fascinating! A ship so loaded with history! You can imagine how the hundreds of sailors lived under the decks with low ceilings, how they slept, how they ate, the breathless atmosphere during the battles.nUnfortunately, the ship is in an extensive restoration process that prevents you from enjoying all its majesty.nTip: Watch out for the head!
Very nice piece of naval history. The boat is in perfect condition and you are allowed to visit all the floors and most of the rooms of the ship. Around the ship you will find volunteers that will explain most of the ship history and characteristics, there are also interactive pieces for kids that make the exhibition more interactive. At certain times the museum will do activities that show and explain real historical pieces such as weapons in a very interactive way. I would recommend it more than the Warrior if you have to choose attractions.
