Annual passing out concert of His Majesty’s Royal Marines School of Music followed by Beating Retreat. Great standard of musicianship and drill. Great afternoon
I absolutely adore Portsmouth Guildhall for countless reasons. Not only is it a stunning architectural gem, exuding an aristocratic charm, but it's also a hub of vibrant activity. I've had the pleasure of attending various events within its grand walls, from job fairs to concerts, each experience leaving me in awe. Even during my university days, I found solace in sitting in front of this magnificent building, admiring its beauty. I wholeheartedly recommend Portsmouth Guildhall to anyone seeking an enriching and memorable experience.
Portsmouth Guildhall, an imposing and historic building located in the heart of Portsmouth, England, stands as a testament to the city's rich cultural and civic heritage. Completed in 1890, this grand Victorian structure, designed by architect Edward Mountford, features stunning architectural details, including its ornate façade and towering clock tower. The Guildhall serves as a versatile venue, hosting a wide range of events from concerts and theatrical performances to civic ceremonies and community gatherings. Its impressive main hall, with its intricate woodwork and excellent acoustics, is particularly renowned for its role in the city's cultural life. The Portsmouth Guildhall not only represents a key piece of the city's architectural legacy but also continues to be a vibrant center for arts and public events, reflecting Portsmouth's dynamic spirit and community pride.
Went to my baby sister's graduation ceremony at the University of Portsmouth. And the sight of the Guildhall was something to behold. So gigantic with good structure. And the environment is beautiful
Went to Al Murray here. The staff were friendly and nice. The bar they set up sold bottles not draught beer. There is a large car park approx ten minutes walk from the theatre through the old shopping centre.
Nice venue, gets a good range of acts. Bar was very well organized. Central area is not raked so at the back you can't see quite as well as you would like. But we enjoyed seeing the strictly professional tour there. Worth getting there early if you are driving because there are quite a few spaces but getting in the car park can be slow.
Beautiful building. Attended my sons graduation ceremony there. Lovely experience.
Lovely place from outside. Inside was extremely hot, used my hand fan to keep cool and move some air around. CAUGHT COVID !!!!
A quaint venue in Portsmouth. The building is a bit tired, but has plenty of character and charm. Seating was adequate as was the bar. Usual queues for toilets though. A good experience overall
Great venue for gigs. Plenty of helpful staff and a mix of standing and seated.
