Quaint little shop in bermondsey. As space is limited I suggest that people make reservations before going. 3 stars as the food is okay. I ordered unadon but the rice was sticky and not fluffy and there were other hit and misses chicken karage, devils chicken, doriyaki with red bean paste accompanied by macha green tea. Overall food was still ok.
Small Japanese restaurant near the station. Staff were slow and the girl we had serving us was new and didn't know much at all about the dishes and obviously couldn't recommend anything but what got us was she made absolutely no effort to even ask a more experienced member of staff to help. Although I've never eaten in a restaurant like this and maybe it's me that it's missing something but when we ordered the food it all came out out at once. To make things more confusing mine and my partners food came out on the same plate so i ate some of hers before we realised what had happened. I didn't really enjoy the food and left most of it which probably has nothing to do with the chef and more to-do with my taste. Staff took quite a while to come and ask us if we had enjoyed our meal and ask if we would of liked anything else or the bill, well they didn't. I had to put my coat on and they still didn't pick up on the signs. I went to the counter and paid the bill in the end. Took some pictures of the menu for you. To sum up: The service is a little lacking in.. well.. service! Staff need a little more training but the beer was good! I won't be back.
Decent food and free delivery. Sushi is well made but you can tell the salmon is low quality by the thick, white lines of fat. All sushi comes with packets of soy and wasabi paste. Overall not amazing but not terrible either.
We ordered the 5.99£ lunch deal, the mapo tofu, aubergine & minced chicken was nice and hot, while the favourite chicken katsu curry was served in lukewarm curry sauce. EDITED REVIEW: I had poppy hana delivery via just eat today. 1. The delivery guy middle age man was creepy, he acting way too friendly & asking a lot of personal details! I’m terribly upset after met him. 2. The food was so bad! The eby fry starter were all soggy, they poured the sauce all over it. The same thing happen to Ebi Ten Don, the sauce was all over the rice. This could easily be prevented by separating the sauce from the meal. I would avoiding making any future delivery from poppy hana because of their food taste & avoiding meeting the delivery guy. I would leave 0 star if it is possible.
Surprisingly the food is not bad. Assuming there are not authentic Japanese foodvery reasonable price and just less than a minutes from Bermondsey station.
I mean, what else do you want from a Japanese restaurant on neighbour? The ‘mini’ seafood ramen soup I ordered was in massive portion but only costs me £5.45, not to mention the taste was so good, I’d say it’s better than Ajisen Ramen! The bento box was £14 including 6 pieces of fresh and mouth-melting salmon and tuna, 6 pieces of sushi in different flavours and some soybeans. If you’re serious looking for 5 star quality, it’s not. Cause you can easily tell from the colour of egg yolk which was a bit light yellow. but, it’s fabulous for what it is!!
Good Japanese local option as the area doesn’t have a lot of interesting restaurants. They need to distinguish between sushi orders as ours came all in the same plate my my friend thought it was all his order.
Cheap and cheerful, I wouldn’t rush back. 2 mains and a large glass of red for under £20. Can’t really complain.
I had ordered a take away from poppy Hana - vegetable tempuri, salmon and tuna sashimi on sushi rice and miso soup. The soup and veg were lovely and hot. All the food was delicious, and the service super fast.
Great sushi in a unexpected location, right by Bermondsey Station. Always Fresh!
