I had an exceptionally positive experience at Poole Hospital and cannot thank the staff enough for being so efficient and coordinated. Their services literally saved my life.nnI had symptoms of suspected appendicitis and was asked by 111 to visit A&E late Thursday afternoon. Although it was quite busy I had various blood tests & a urine test within a few hours and had my CT scan 4 hours later which confirmed my appendix was heavily infected and quite close to bursting.nnI had my operation the following morning on Friday to remove my appendix. I was discharged Saturday afternoon after overnight observation and the operation was a complete success.nMy blood pressure & other stats was monitored every few hours with no issues & they efficiently managed my medication. I was in very little pain most of the time. The food was pleasant.nnThere was exceptional communication throughout my experience and every single nurse and doctor was exceptionally caring, friendly, compassionate, empathetic & helpful.nnI was really well looked after and from quietly observing situations with other patients it's very clear this is a well run and efficient hospital.nnThe NHS is an amazing service and people should never take what we have in this country for granted. There will be waiting times, it's only to be expected as no doubt their resources are very stretched when busy.
I would like to say a HUGE THANK YOU for taking such good care of me when I had a seizure whilst visiting friends. From the ambulance crew onwards, each and everyone treated me with such respect..I felt so safe in your hands.Words are not enough to say how grateful I am.You are all angels and should get more of the praise you deserve!xx
Very poor care on surgical ward to a level that on occasion I was extremely concerned for my welfare. Very low nursing staff levels who are exhausted, brusque and indifferent. It was very difficult to get any pain medication which is why I was admitted. I was starved for 4 days in a row and 4 times had my emergency surgery cancelled at the end of the day having missed supper. My partner had to bring food in. The toilets on the mixed gender ward were filthy with urine on the floor. Not once was my bed made let alone having the sheets changed. Nurses that were present spent more time on the computer than with patients. Dangerously understaffed.nWhen I did see a doctor standards were excellent. Unfortunately their care management was compromised by lack of and poor calibre nursing staff. The doctors care and ability alone brought this review up to 2 stars.nSafe to say I did not have a good experience and felt very shocked by the level of care and chaotic service. It has made me fearful of ever having to be admitted to the hospital again.
I just wanted to say a huge thank you to all the staff at ENT emergency clinic/Ward C4E treatment room.nThe staff are pleasant, friendly but also very professional. I cannot fault the care they provided.
Had to wait 5–7 hours with a newborn at Poole A&E — very small space, lots of coughing, people coming in and out, some causing trouble. It felt really unsafe for a baby.nnIt’s hard to believe that all of Dorset doesn’t have a proper children’s or baby emergency department. We all pay taxes — surely our children deserve better care and safer conditions.nnHorrible park car, everything old and dirty !!
