Story

Pool Hayes Academy is a mixed secondary school and sixth form located in Willenhall, in the West Midlands of England.t is one of the biggest secondary schools in the Metropolitan Borough of Walsall. Construction of the school began in the early 1960s, the predecessing Pool Hayes Farm was levelled and a nearby pool plus Pool Hayes Colliery were filled in to make way for progress. Patricks Lane was renamed 'Pool Hayes Lane' and was redeveloped in 1965. The school itself was opened in 1964 around the same time as construction of the surrounding areas (including housing), was still in progress. The first head teacher was Harold Chamings (who died in December 2005), the second was Peter Mitchell. The third was Jim Clarke who retired in December 2013. Matthew Allman replaced Jim Clarke and served until July 2016. Luke Baker is now the current principal.During 2006 the school came under partial redevelopment. The original 40-years old wooden windows were removed and replaced by new PVC framed windows. The I.T block was also redeveloped along with the tennis court, plus automatic doors replaced the original 60's wooden ones in the reception area. The maths section was altered as part of the redevelopment, with the two original doors either side being bricked over and replaced with a main door, which faces the grassy area. New signposts and other changes were also added. In September 2006, Pool Hayes was designated a Specialist Status as an Arts College which brought a big increase in resources to support exciting developments in Drama, Music Technology and Creative Technology in school. This Specialist Status also carries with it the challenge of raising standards in those subjects throughout the school.

Has to be one of the worst schools in the area. The fighting is rediculas on a daily basis the the staff don't have a clue what is going on from one day to the next you go to the school with an issue and get told we are aware and we are trying to resolve it. The school favours the bully and the headteacher is in denial and seems to think there isn't a bully problem and finds it funny when you try talk to him. Think twice before you choose this school.
Too many fights and teachers don't do anything to stop it. The one way system is annoying. But the teachers that have been here for a while don't take any nonsense. My science teacher left the school at the start of the year and I had a sub until around March and my English teacher left just 2 weeks after we got sets and were in hers and we have only just got a replacement 3 weeks until the end of the school year.
Like every other school, you will find bullies and children with all sorts of nasty behaviours as well as 'not so good' teachers. For me, most of it boils down to bad parenting. You don't expect schools to perform miracles and turn the life of your child around when they've already cultivated certain attitudes and behaviours and unwilling to change for good. Its possible for children to do wrong despite all the love, training and devotion to them but we, parents need to do more to support schools. They can't do it all by themselves.nIf we are want our children to be allowed to do whatever pleases them without consequencies, then I am afraid it will only get worse.nPersonally I have nothing bad to say about the school, although my children have had to deal with bullies and racists. I encourage them to do their best with their head held high and try to ignore the nastiness around them as best they can. Easier said than done, I know but they are doing just fine both academically and socially.
My son started late year 7 after not getting into a school we had chosen and boy am I glad he didn’t get that school because he is excelling in poolhayse not had one issue he has settled right in and really enjoying it
Communication is woeful to say the least. Bullying is massively out of control in the school and the school has little to no control over it.
