Upon arrival there were several car parks leading off the entrance & we found a spot without any trouble. The cafe was fairly busy we did arrive around 1pm, but we were seated quickly & the staff seemed very friendly. I might add the staff were all wearing masks & there was a very good covid policy on site. The food was reasonably priced & both our meals were good quality. My only gripe was the timing our food arrived. My partner ordered quiche & I had some cake. My cake arrived with the drinks tea & my partners arrived a good ten minutes later. I'm not concerned regarding the wait as the cafe was quite busy, It's good practice to bring both meals together! The selection of plants was decent & I was quite tempted to buy a small tree fern. On the whole I'd definitely recommend a visit, remember the exit is a one way system when exiting the car park...
Lots of lovely plants, helpful staff. Went back again to get some great pots, plants and another wander round the garden. Definitely worth a return visit.
As a regular visitor I am saddened to be writing this review. If today was my first visit it would of most certainly been my last. Family visiting from South and felt it was the perfect place for lunch. We unfortunatley praised it highly. No queue but was informed 20 minute food wait. No problem with that. After a lengthy wait drinks and a sweet was fetched for 2 of the group which included jug of custard. Very strange as no meals had yet. Then after another very lengthy wait 2 meals arrived for the opposite 2 in the group but no drinks. Again another long wait which by then I had eaten my meal the other 2 meals finally arrived. We said when ordered we together on same table. I finally gave up waiting and had to go ask for our 2 drinks which were still not made and my coffee arrived only warm after we had eaten. What a complete jumble and dreadful organisation and service especially as we took first timers. My toasty was one of the smallest ever seen on tiny brown bread slices and lacked cheese inside. Definitely not the usual or any where near worth price paid. I cannot have cucumber or onion but that left me with served a tiny amount of lettuce and one cherry tomotoe and desert spoon of coleslaw. Portion so small today. So disappointed.
Called in yesterday for a coffee and scone, as usual delicious. Didn't have too long to wait either, excellent service. However too many dogs around and when we left a lady with a very large rottweiler straining at the leish and blocking the exit door !!
We visited today for hotfood drinks and cake. After waiting 30 minutes our drinks and cake were delivered to the wrong table. The items were then delivered to our table, without apology, even though they had been in front of other customers, which was not particularly hygienic. We then waited a further 20 minutes, after which we complained and only then received our hot food 10 minutes later. The member of staff was again unapologetic, essentially blaming us for their table mix up. We will not be visiting this establishment again, despite being customers for about five years. I would now rate this as abominable.
Visited yesterday with family. Very expensive for not very nice food. Nice coffee but that's all.
I love this place. Plants are very reasonably priced and multi buys make them even cheaper. Sometimes the plants look a bit worse for wear but this is reflected in the price. I have planted up my full garden over 3 years, with shrubs, grasses and border plants, and have achieved a fabulous result. I bought daffs in spring 2016 very cheap as they were about finished and they come back every year. Lovely tea room which is well worth a visit.
Since we moved back to Durham in Nov 2019 we have been regular weekly visitors, especially when lockdown occured in March 2020. They really came into their own, we loved our take outs, sitting in the car picnicking! We have bought loads of plants & trees, especially bamboo! Conifers, Pansy's, Pavier, Privet, dianthus & manure! They have an amazing display of plants, plus garden barrels. We return twice weekly & despite the cafe now open we love our take outs in the car. Well done Pity Me Nursery for diversity in these difficult times.
Always get my Christmas tree here. It's half the price of the place I used to go to! Plants are always realistically priced and the tea shop is very popular too.
Fab place. Garden centre and cafe. Food is beautiful, excellent garden centre. Liz a Staff member really attentive and looked after us. Really worth a visit, we love it.
