Undoubtedly the best food we've had in our 3 years in England! I cannot rave enough about this place. We were served by the nicest people, the food was excellent, the drinks were perfect and the setting was vibrant and engaging. Don't be fooled by the exterior of the building, we nearly missed this absolute gem!! We found this on a short weekend break to Southend-on-Sea, skip the rubbish on the waterfront and take a small walk 2 streets back, it's worth a 100 streets back.
We came here after another restaurant closed there kitchen! In area on day trip on a sunday. Well this is a little gem of a place in South End. They get very busy and had no tables inside but due to weather we decided we wouldn't mind sitting outdoors, another large group were outside and they were Mexican so always a good sign! Gabi was our server and she was a delight from start to finish. Service with a smile and attentive too. We were glad we came here. Menu has great choice and food was very tasty! You won't be disappointed! Toilets very clean too, always a good sign!
Great food, lovely staff, cute authentic decor - we love dining here - 10/10 We’ve been a few times, but didn’t know you could use a taste card which gives you 2 for 1. So, all this food plus a coke and alcoholic drink - £30. Couldn’t believe it - amazing!!
Had a perfect lunch here today. We had the calamari to start and mozzarella sticks, followed by the prawn burrito bowl and cilantro chicken. We then had churros and Dulce de leche churros. All amazingly hot and delicious. Really friendly service. We have had this take out as well and was just as good!
Service was great. The restaurant was clean and really nicely decorated. The food was ok to good. We had two sharing boards between 4 of us. The main sharer felt like a bit of a weird mishmash, it was ok but not great, less Mexican flavours than expected. The lamb chops had a really strange flavour that 3 of the group didn’t like at all. The starters board was better. I would go back, but I’d order differently next time.
Great place, it's a little hidden gem in Southend. The decor is really cool, the staff are friendly and helpful. The food is really nice. Great for couples or with a group to celebrate something or a gathering. Give it a try.
Pieno Lleno was recommended to my friend, and we were looking for somewhere new to go as we are based in Thurrock. Definitely worth the journey on the train, lovely little place. It was described to us as a hidden gem and i would say that's a good description. It's about 5 minutes in a taxi but we decided to walk from Southend Central Station, which took about 15 minutes. Its a cosy, comfortable restaurant, full Mexican vibe with day of the dead murals over the walls. Loved the decor, bright, vibrant and memorable. Each member of staff we saw was lovely, from being greeted, to seated, to served and leaving. And obviously can't forget the food! Nachos sharer was so good! And I then ate the best quesadilla I've ever had. We were so full, but managed to get some churros to take away! Lots of delicious food, plenty of cocktails, beers and wines to choose from. Can't wait to go back and try something else. Highly recommend.
Alright hear me now, it’s the start of the Christmas season and we are beginning with a bang. This place a bit more eloquent than most places I review. After a series of alright places but nothing spectacular I decided that enough is enough and go to one of the most highly recommended Mexican restaurants in Southend. To see if we can get some good, FLAVOURFUL food to satiate my critical palate. The ambiance of the restaurant was sublime, with cool lit sombreros placed around that gave off a homely but somewhat authentic Mexican vibe with visually appealing art representing Día de los muetos. I would like to give a massive thank you to the wonderful woman who served us on that day, Alice whose service was amazing and who welcomed us in with a warm and inviting smile and placed us somewhere that was away from the door so we wouldn’t be cold. Combo chicken and BBQ pulled pork Mexican fajitas This was a meal to remember, it came with fresh Guacamole, salsa, sour cream and cheese in very small bowls and freshly heated flour tortillas. Then came the main event sizzling ferociously on the hot pot, the chicken and pulled pork on a bed of onions and mixed peppers. I tired the chicken first and it was a bit dry and some where a bit burnt from the heat but then I added the pulled pork which absolutely changed the game. It was SENSATIONAL. I was concerned that the BBQ flavour might be overpowering but it wasn’t, it was beautiful infused with passion and love bursting with flavour completely revolutionised the whole fajita. So much so it made me completely forget about the dry chicken and the odd burnt onion or pepper and I indulged on all four fajitas. They could be seen as a bit stingy especially with the sizes of everything . If they made the portion sizes a bit bigger, so more meat and bigger tortillas if would have been another level ! 8.7/10 Churros with vanilla ice cream and chocolate and Carmel sauce To top of a culinary experience that has superseded most of my experiences that I have had of late. I got the classic churros, graciously and quite generously I might add, covered with cinnamon sugar and powered sugar. Eating it with the chocolate sauce was something else. Indulgent, warm, sweet, and with the cinnamon sugar it gives that warm feeling that can remind you of Christmas which is great especially for the season we are in. A great way to end the experience. 8.2/10 I did get a virgin piña colada but I wasn’t really a fan of it but if you don’t drink I would recommend a strawberry or passion fruit mojito very fresh from the lime and mint and sweet or kinda sour depending on which one you get. Absolutely superb!!! Got 25% off and had a meat platter for two with 4 sides. Basically meant we had a free bottle of decent red and couple beers for nothing on gourmet card. THE FOOD WAS very good from a local chef!
Excellent food and cocktails, great staff and awesome decor. Brilliant gluten free and vegan options.. 100% will be returning
