Our first pie in London, and was a very decent one! didn’t know what to expect to be honest, and was excited to try one of their famed dishes. Ordered the fungi mushroom, and thought the filling was fairly generous - we didn’t love the sauce though, but it’s probably just us as it’s some form of cream based sauce. While it’s not a dish that we love and enjoy, it’s a good pie for a first try.
BRILLIANT! The Moo&Blue pie is everything that you want to eat before your last breath. Amazing combination of stewed meat and matured cheese in a unique pastry piece. Try it!Food: 5/5
Arrived at the Borough market without knowing what to expect. Got a good feeling about this meat pie stand and gave it a try Oh my goodness, their moo pie was warm and delicious. Highly recommended.Food: 5/5
Had the steak and Stilton. Was ok. Meat was tender but the Stilton flavour was too subtle in my opinion. If you like Stilton or blues in general, then you want to taste the funk! Also slightly under seasoned, but this was probably due to the pastry being a bit lacklustre. It was thin & crisp for sure, but not at all buttery or moorish like a good pie pastry. When I lived in london years ago, this was a must visit at borough market, but after my visit today, I’d be happy to skip it. I swear there also used to be a mash/pea/gravy offering but I may be confusing this with something else. I also dislike the lack of sauce offering. I think a small dollop of sauce can really elevate a pie as it adds an element of tart and sweet to what is otherwise a very savoury experience. I’m definitely not a ‘put sauce on everything’ person, but I think for most people, a little sauce with a pie is a must-have, especially when unfortunately, the pie falls short on its own. Guy behind the counter was also pretty gruff. Don’t expect a parade or the red carpet but a vague air of ‘we appreciate your business’ is always appreciated.
The heidi vegetarian pie was below average. Vegetables tasted half cooked. Kidney and steak seemed better.Food: 3/5
Pieminister is a chain of pie shops that originated in Bristol, England. They have a number of locations in London, including one in Borough Market. The Borough Market location is a small stall for takeaway pies. The pies at Pieminister are made with fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. They offer a wide variety of pies, including both traditional and more creative options. Some of the signature pies include the Steak and Ale Pie, the Chicken and Mushroom Pie, and the Vegetarian Pie. Overall, the pies are yummy, filling, and good value for money for the location, and a great food to munch on whilst roaming around Borough Market.
Came in to Pieminister on a gloomy Wednesday and have had a brilliant time. The food from Sam was FANTASTIC but the service from Merrick was even better. Such a lovely atmosphere, felt like we were welcome there. Definitely will be back again!Food: 5/5
Best meat pie I've ever had. The outer layer is crispy and airy and the meat is so flavorful. I got the steak pie and would love to try other flavors. 5 pounds for one pie. You can get them warm of cold to bring home.
Had the chicken, ham and leek pie hot. It was excellent. Filling was comfort food, fresh and tasty. Crust was crispy and the structure held up to the filling. Recommended.Food: 5/5
This little pie was delicious. Only £5.50, and it has plenty of filling and nice crispy crust. It's just a little stall in the middle of the market, so it's easy to miss.. but if you do find it, grab one and you won't regret it.Food: 5/5
