Absolutely fantastic location, very friendly staff - and extremely helpful - as well as beautiful surroundings just a few steps from the town center. A safe in the room would have been helpful, as would have been a small fridge for medical supplies. But again, one of the best hotels that I have stayed in, in England.
I must say, this is in a beautiful spot, Rooms are great, overlooking the river and grounds. But unfortunately, the food was not up to scratch. I have been hear many time, I can only assume that the Chef was off sick. I will be back, only because the food is usually lovely.
We loved our stay! Swimming, tennis, fitness studio, bridge, scrabble…so many activities to choose from and so many members to talk to. We had a lovely time there. The breakfast was so so modern. I had avocado on toast with spinach and salmon. And the dinner was excellent! The restaurant was really accommodating to my allergies! I just loved the whole vibrant atmosphere of this hotel. It made you feel like you are part of a community. And the views…the views are stunning. Town is so close by! Every morning, I walked with our service dog Blue to café Nero for an early morning coffee and it wasn’t far at all. Henley and the other villages around are places to treasure.
This was a beautiful club to play at as a guest. Right on the river, it has a lovely location. The hotel is a bit of faded glory if we’re honest and had a feel of a club which it is where one might inadvertently break an ancient rule.nWe were put in a room which faced the air conditioning units and the hallway outside creaked all through the night as people walked down it, so sleep was hard. I don’t think it was very full, so an odd choice of room really?nBreakfast was excellent.
Tv in room is about 15 inches so very small, upside was Netflix was logged in so could use that for watching things.nHuge bed and lovely room with a bath, window opened fully out onto roof/balcony so you could sit out if you wished.nFacilities such as pool and gym are accessible during stay, pool good size and sauna room available. Check hours before visiting as we were told it was open at 6:30 by hotel reception, but it was a bank holiday so wasn’t open till 8pm. we walked past reception into the pool area and the changing rooms as nobody was on reception. Then pool receptionist showed up and was a bit abrupt and adamant the pool was closed and not open till 8am bearing in mind it was 7:50am we just thought we could get changed and that would’ve been fine but no we had to wait in reception of pool area.nnParking is free for duration of stay and plenty of parking available, lovely views of river steps outside hotel entrance. Breakfast included in price of room which was £185 which was good value considering you can order anything off the breakfast menu and as many things as you like. So we had full English breakfast, French toast, coffee, fruit juice, toast smoked salmon on toast and weren’t questioned about quantity. So that’s not bad prices considering location and beauty of the hotel and closeness to surrounding town.nnRude guests at breakfast marred the experience because of miscommunication as they wanted the whole order at once and they only got poached eggs so they caused a scene about it and I ended up with his poached eggs he didn’t want so it’s a win for me. I apologised to the staff for their behaviour as I felt bad for them.nnI’d highly recommend this hotel over others surrounding it.
