Excellent. Another great castle from English Heritage. Difficult walk up to the castle but well worth it. Fantastic views of the surrounding areas. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Parking can be difficult at busy times. Recommended
Peveril Castle in the Peak District is a beautiful spot with amazing views. The walk to the castle is lovely, with great scenery all around. The castle ruins are interesting and full of history.nnAfter visiting the castle, we walked to Cave Dale. The path goes through a stunning valley with limestone cliffs. The mix of the old castle and the natural beauty of Cave Dale made for a wonderful day. It's perfect for anyone who loves history and nature!
Great views from the top, especially on a fine day. The grass lawn is really pleasant to sit down too. The hike up was quite steep, but can be reached within 15 minutes at a moderate pace. It is not wheelchair accessible. The castle ruins itself isn't very much... there were only a few sign boards of the history of the plaxe.. we expected a bit more especially with the entrance fee.nnI would suggest that it is only worth going on a day with good weather. If the weather isn't good or if you have bad knees, I would probably skip it.
A inclined walk but not for very long. The scenery at the top is stunning. The castle itself is still lovely to look around. Lots of grassy area to sit and enjoy the breathtaking surrounding. We have English heritage membership so was free for us!
I highly recommend going here when the weather is good.nnWe visited as a family of three and got in for free due to our membership into the English Heritage. The town itself is very quaint and if you're into caves, walks and stunning panoramic views then this is the place for you. Make sure that you're fit when you visit as the walk up to the keep can be trying.nnThe pay off is when you get to the top you see a structure that is still mostly standing since the 10th century and an absolutely wonderful view.nnA great day out!
