Happy Valentine’s Day! We came from Tokyo, Japan. There is Michelin green star restaurant. We booked it before 3 months. I talked to 5 staff and they were very friendly.nWe enjoyed the moment for 3 hours:
Came here after hearing great things and left feeling rather underwhelmed. Nice staff and beautiful decor. Very loud and tricky to hear each other talk as well as what the waiter was saying. Rather a high price for what you get.. waited an hour for our mains which were pretty much barely roasted vegetables. Lacked a tasty edge to them. Staff are nice it was rather busy. Would’ve been great not to have had to ask twice for some water for our dog and I think towards the end our waitress finished her shift. Would’ve been nice to have chosen what we tipped.. A little disappointed really, very expensive and could be better. As a vegetarian, paying £65 for two courses means they should be as tasty and well thought through as the meat & fish options. Another waitress offered free a drink/coffee but as we’d been there for so long we just wanted to go home. If long waiting times are standard, letting people know before booking would be a great shout.
Gorgeous place and wonderful atmosphere. Unfortunately, I came on a Saturday afternoon when they were swamped. While we were seated in decent time, it took the friendly young waiters a long time to take our orders as they were swamped. We chose to sit outdoors as indoors was too loud to have a conversation. The food was fine, but nothing remarkable. I appreciate it was food made on site, hence 4 stars but would have liked some garnishing on the dishes- a little bit of green would have been appreciated. I am sure their fine dining resto with fine dining prices is much better. Price wise I thought it was expensive for what we received and I will be honest; not sure how often I will return. It’s one of those places you go for the gorgeous gardeny atmosphere to catch up with a friend.
Service and atmosphere are great, unfortunately… for a £190 check without alcohol, I would expect something a little bit wow. Previously, for the last couple of years each time I looked for a table, it is always full. Somehow I thought I was lucky to finally able to get a table for my birthday lunch.nnStarter was amazing, I had tartare and my husband had burrata - though nothing is really spectacular about the burrata but 5 stars for the tartare.nnMain? If we want to give an honest opinion, the steak was tough, my sourdough for the stew came burnt, I did asked the waiter if it’s possible to change but the 2nd bread came cold and hard.nnDesserts were tasting okay but again, lacking a wow factor for that range of price. Would we come back for the food? No.nnI should’ve read the reviews but was already filled up with all this ideas I’ve built in my mind about the restaurant reputation for the last couple of years. Now that I read the reviews here about the food quality and that assurance comments will be shared with the team from months ago and the latest was last week, but I am still facing similar concerns today so I guess the comments were never really taken seriously.nnAlas yes, this is disappointing. The only good thing that come up from this is that I’ll get two birthday lunches
It is a lovely place for a Sunday afternoon, great atmosphere. The food is up to standards, loved the quail and tender soft pork cheeks. Wine is great but expensive.
