We used Ellena at Pet Behavioural Therapy’s services to help with our Cavapoo’s behavioural problem. It was a miserable, wet day when she visited us, but she had no problem with going to around x4 different parks to find other dogs with owners to experience the issues for herself. She quickly identified the problem and followed up the initial consultation with a full, detailed written report. She also chased up regularly for updates way beyond the specified time. Ellena is definitely a listener and not a talker, but she knows her dogs! She has equipped us with the tools and coping strategies necessary so that our dog walks are now as relaxed as they used to be, and now we are always in control, and our dog is happy with us making the right decisions on her behalf. We would recommend Ellena’s services.
We have a 4 year old cockapoo who had good guarding issues and was very reactive around other dogs. We've used 3 behaviourists in the past and were even considering rehoming our pet. Thankfully we were referred to Ellena and she changed our lives! Our pet is far more relaxed around dogs now and walking him is a pleasure. We also haven't had any issues with guarding since we took on Ellena's advice. We know we have a long way to go with our dog but Ellena gives practical and helpful advice and our bond with our dog has become much stronger! Highly recommend!
I recently called Ellena after behaviour and anxiety issues with our 2 year dog escalated. The consultation was thorough and we felt like she really understood the issues and where they were coming from. I have contacted other behaviourists about the same issues but this is the first time a behaviourist has actually come out and experienced a walk with us! This made her recommendations and follow up advice relevant and invaluable. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Ellena and will be calling on her services in future if needed.
We are currently working with Ellena for our dog, who is a rescued and suffers from extreme separation anxiety. Since we started back in July, we have seen massive improvement with that issue. Our dog did not even stay in bed for two seconds straight if we left the room, and with Ellena's guidance and some really hard work, he's able to stay alone now for 55 minutes!! This is making us so happy : Thanks for everything, Ellena.
SCANDALOUS ‘Beware’ 1 star is being generous . I can honestly say , ‘what a complete waste of money’ £300 for 1 visit ! With no result or structured training. At the time of booking we discussed the issues I had with my 12 month Cavapooschon and agreed on 2 visit, I didn’t want video calls . Later I was advised that the £300 was only for 1 visit and to address only 2 issues and an additional charge would apply for a second visit . First, Ellena cancelled as she wanted the full payment cleared in her bank prior to the appointment . We discussed all the issues and I was reasssured they could easily be fixed . After the visit , it is very clear to me why Ellena insists on full payment prior to any visits . I can Sadly say - ‘She doesn’t deliver’ . I do not believe I received the service from an experienced trainer/behavourist . I paid an extortionate amount. Inhave nothing to show for it . Ellena bought along a stuffed dog to confirm my dogs anxiety. We then went to a park - however, she did not really take charge or do any significant training in the park - it was more like a walk with a friend . This was nothing like I expected from a qualified behavourist. I would have expected Ellena to be more proactive in the park. I felt I paid someone £300 to walk in the park with me. For the issues I had instructed her for there was no training but just ‘ avoidance’ the issues were not addressI did not receive a professional service And certainly would not recommend. There must be more experienced committed behavourist out there who actually care about the dogs and achieving results and Not just about the money . Barking at the window -; R Frost out the windows and say ‘People relax’ Anxiety around harness - ; R Don’t use one - use a collar despite the dog pulls No heal walking training provided at the park. Resource garding R Just avoid it - don’t attempt to remove the object . No guidance on how to remove an object in emergency . Barking at other dogs R Avoid other dogs, stop and give a treat/food Say ‘good look’ After speaking with my vet I was advised to go back and say the colar is not an option and could damage the esophagus . Ellena’s way of handling this training was to email me a UTUBE Video . Something I could easily Google . Would I recommend her - seriously NO don’t waste your money ! And if you do - do not pay in advance of the service . have requested a refund from Ellena. Received no response .
Ellena helped us with a few issues with both of dogs. She also referred one of our dogs to a class which is specifically for reactive dogs. The advice she gave us and our dog walkers helped us to prepare for these classes and we were able to avoid further issues. Ellena also gave us realistic expectations as to how long it would take to address these issues. She was fantastic in following up with any issues. Ellena's approach is positive reward based, backed up with a lot of information and support.
As a vet, the support and help we receive from Ellena at Pet Behaviour Therapy is excellent. She has helped many of our clients and their pets, and I have learned a lot from reading her very detailed and thorough referral reports. Highly recommended.
