Words cannot say how much I loathe this school. The building may be new and 'outstanding and immaculate' but the people inside are something else. My daughter got diagnosed with severe depression because of this school, at 14 years old. Certain staff members failed to meet her individual needs and happily made her life a misery. The way she got treated was appalling, which caused her bad behaviour. She got banned from the school toilets for 'spending too long in there' and teachers upset her so much to the point where she couldn't stop crying and strongly refused to go. Her mentor picked on her, which resulted my daughter to hide in the school library to avoid this certain person. She was also picked on, which the teachers did absolutely nothing about. Bullying is never dealt with in this school. She got told in these exact words: 'you won't get into college, if by miracle you do then you'll get kicked out within the first week'. 'You won't do well in anything'. When a teacher asked what she wanted to do when she is older, and she replied 'a teacher or a lawyer' they burst out laughing, which resulted in my daughter suffering from anxiety and low self esteem. I was absolutely disgusted. The first aiders are nothing but a group of bitchy woman, highly unprofessional. In 2012, Ofsted only rated it as 'good'. It is far from 'good' but even further from 'outstanding'. Anyway, to finish my review; my daughter started Truro college. Surprisingly, she didn't get kicked out at all. In fact, she is absolutely flourishing and I received amazing compliments and praise on her behalf from her tutors and lecturers. She is an adult now, currently finishing her second year and going to university in September. She has an extremely well paid job, and I haven't seen her so happy in all her life. She has made our family so proud. So to Penryn College: I'm afraid to say, she's an absolute success, and to see her crying two years ago saying 'mum, they're right- ill never do well in anything. No wonder they laugh at me'- is a complete joke! So middle finger up to Penryn college! You were wrong. I shall certainly NOT be sending my other daughter there, nor will I recommend this school to anyone.
