Patisserie Valerie's afternoon tea for two menu includes traditional finger sandwiches that included fresh salmon, chicken and egg salad fillings. The afternoon tea was also delivered to the table with scones and mini versions of Patisserie Valerie's cake treats. I especially liked the clotted cream and the fact that they served the scones with Bonnie Maman conserve. As well, you will be delivered two pots of freshly brewed tea (not from tea bags!) Take a look at the pics I took to see how good this was! It’s more of a meal for two than an afternoon tea! We couldn’t eat it all and had to take some away. All this in a rather pleasant atmosphere for £25. How could you go wrong?

Hot sunny day, looking forward to a cold milkshake. Went to this cafe as been to other branches and had good experience. Sat outside and waited to be served, after approx 10minutes went inside to ask if needed to order indoors ...after having to fetch menu myself...was told somebody was outside taking orders to which I replied nobody was out there. There was at least 3 staff indoors all just stood talking so I told them I just wanted 2 milkshakes! Went outside and waited. Good 10/15 minutes go by then a waitress comes by and asks if we wanted to order to which we replied we were waiting for said milkshakes. Her reply was oh they are ready and waiting on the top I’ll go and get them. When milkshakes arrived they weren’t very cold and the vanilla one had what looked and tasted like caramel sauce in it. By this time we had enough so went to pay bill and leave again having to go inside to ask to pay. Waitress asked if everything had been ok so I said milkshakes weren’t very cold and vanilla one had caramel sauce in. Was told that’s how they make their vanilla shake so I replied that isn’t a vanilla shake then it’s caramel. Manageress then came into the conversation and again no apology or acknowledgement of our dissatisfaction and was really quite rude in her manor. Very disappointed. Not a patch on the one in Milton Keynes.

Went to Rushden Lakes last Friday specifically to have afternoon tea at Patisserie Valerie. We drove 40 minutes each way to do so. We went into Patisserie Valerie at 2.10pm thinking we might be slightly early for afternoon tea. We found a table which had not been cleared from the previous customers. We cleared the table ourselves and waited to be served. As we knew exactly what we wanted we did not need to look at the menu. The servers walked past us several times serving other tables. At around 2.30pm a waiter approached us. We ordered our afternoon teas and he said "Oh I think we have sold out. I will check". He came back and said that they had sold out. We were extremely surprised and asked what time they started serving AFTERNOON tea. He said as soon as they open which we understand is 9am. We walked out past the sign outside advertising afternoon tea for two at £25.00 and went across to the Eden Restaurant in House of Fraser where we had an excellent afternoon tea served by a very pleasant and accommodating lady who told us that they serve afternoon tea from 2pm to 5pm.

Was expecting the same Patisserie Valerie experience I've had at other branches. If this had been or first experience, I would never go into another branch as all would be tarred with the same inadequate brush. The menu choice was limited (we came in for cooked breakfast but this isn't offered) and the breakfast muffin and croque monsieur were very disappointing. 2 stars given because the waitresses were very attentive and pleasant, and the lakeside environment is super. However, sadly, we won't be coming back.
