We visited patisserie valerie after receiving a gift voucher. The afternoon tea was very nice with plenty for two. Free drink refills were also included which was great! The waitress was lovely and friendly and kept making sure we had everything we needed. It loses a star as the place wasn't as clean as I would have expected from an 'upmarket' cafe. The table was a little sticky and the menus on the table were quite grubby.
Ordered a personalised cake and couldn't have been happier! So easy to use the website to order and collect.
Went here for an afternoon tea today. Although very busy the staff there were brilliant. The lad serving was very composed with a big queue and didn't let customer serve slip. The lady following up our order making sure everything was okay was so polite it's untrue. Really great experience. As for the actual food and drink, you can't go wrong. Great selection of sandwiches and cakes on the afternoon tea. I have been to other Patisserie Valerie stores and it seems you can't go wrong with them.
Had a voucher bought me for Christfor an afternoon tea. And I went with my sister. It was lovely. Beautiful handmade pastries, wonderful finger sandwiches and selection of jams. I had the best time. The staff were lovely. Thank you so much Valerie's. I'd highly recommend
I've been here several times now for my lunch and only one time I was happy with the food . Yesterday's visit just made up my mind when I got served with a pathetic excuse for Avo toast, that I won't be visiting again unless I just want cake! I think they should stick to serving just cake or get a chef who can cook properly.
Treated my daughter to afternoon tea Tuesday 18th December. Service was lovely but the afternoon tea itself was very poor, the small selection of cakes resembled Mr Kipling cakes, nothing wrong with Kipling cakes but very poor compared to the cakes displayed in the windows, we expected minature versions of those. Coffee was awful. Such a shame as we were really looking forward to our little treat.
This visit was awful. The tables are small and fixed and squeezing into your seat impinges on neighbouring tables. It also means that you are sitting too close to people to talk candidly and at a normal volume. We got evil looks from the old people at the next table because my friend had the temerity to send a voice note via WhatsApp. We decided to move into a corner alcove and take up two tables. My friend ordered a bagel which was advertised as coming with red onion and fresh lemon, but they were conspicuous by their absence. When I asked the waitress they said it wasn't served with red onion. I asked to speak to the manager and when questioned they told us they had forgotten to order the onions and had just forgotten the lemon. I had Welsh rarebit which came with 2 poached eggs. However they were not separated from the toast and water from them had run under the rarebit and made it water logged and soggy. This was exacerbated by the laziness of the chef only toasting one side of the bread. I also made it clear I didn't want any salad but it was still provided and wasted When I told the waitress I wasn't happy with my Welsh rarebit being wet it was replaced and a second serving provided. This wasn't a cheap meal, for the same price we could have eaten in a pub and had a proper meal. This made the problems more difficult to swallow. I asked the manager if we ordered dessert if they'd give us a discount due to the problems we had. She declined but gave us another pot of tea and coke. I would have preferred the discounted desserts. If I hadn't have paid when we ordered I would have demanded a discount due to the issues faced. Suffice to say this is my first and last visit.
Cake was lovely had initially ordered with druckers in bull ring due to it closing down the order was transfered to patisserie Valerie. Upon confirmed order prior ro it delivery which the order was suppose to be delivered at the bull ring Travelodge wasnt delivered when i called up to find out the manager explained a delivery charge was not included however that wasnt mentioned when the modified order was confirmed. Generally the manager was rude and unprofeshional. Later as i was in the right not apology was made but was established they order had been sent our for delivery 2 hours late from its schedule and was very hot and soft. Bad experience in general and disgusting employee showing attitude like a child saying"its not my fault" in a childlike voice absolutely disgusted the employee needs training or kicking out! Terrible face for a excellent cake company.
Overall really like the venue and the products however the stocking and service are very patchy currently. Regularly out of stock of what I want and the service is often weak. Orders forgotten, lack of staff communication and unacceptable delays. Sutton has a lot of other options but I would like to be able to come to PV and enjoy the experience, sadly not possible until things improve.
Absolutely avoid the "Afternoon Tea" offering!!! Far too expensive, appalling service. Tea arrived cold. You need a magnifying glass to see the cakes; they were so small and nothing like that being advertised. Vegetarian or with special dietary needs? Tough! You get what you're given! Originally told "no need to book" but when we arrived, we were told "Oh, we're too busy today". Spoilt what should have been a pleasant 80th birthday event with my close friends. One star because I can't give a zero star rating.
