A lovely trendy cafe to visit if you want good food with a twist and great drinks. I had the chicken toastie and was so happy that they took out the spice for me. Their staff and so nice and diligent with your needs. 100% recommend!
We had Kadak Chai it was amazing. The people working here are very nice and they have a simple and beautiful ambience. Has both indoor and outdoor seating as well.
The chai great flavour not too sweet just very nicely balanced. I just had a toasty but honestly that filled me up, I would maybe not have so much mango chutney in there, however you can just remove any excess. Regardless that toasty is very very yummy and filling.
The stars are only for the food which was delicious. However the service was a whole other story. Waited over an hour for my brunch whilst my friend got hers within 30 mins. Staff were coming out of the kitchen saying orders out loud and aimlessly trying to find the person who ordered it. Even though there were table numbers! Also poor communication from Waiters who kept telling me my food would be '5 more minutes'. They definitely needed more staff to cope with a Sunday crowd.
Vegetarian & Vegan Options WHAT I HAD: Tumeric Vegan Chai [£4.00]; Sri Lankan Lamprais [£10.50] – Vegan & Mutton A historical Sri Lankan and Dutch influenced rice and curry served in a banana leaf with beetroot, aubergine, cashew nut curry and onion relish. I was in Camden pretty early in the morning, so most shops weren’t opened yet. I across PamBan and it had an interesting menu coffee and hot food? Yes please!, so I decided to have my breakfast here as I was really hungry. You order and pay at the counter, and it will be served to you. I had the Vegan Sri Lankan Lamprais with Tumeric Vegan Chai. The Lamprais was very flavourful with an interesting combination of sweet, savoury and spice it’s not spicy though if you’re afraid of spice. My mum enjoyed her mutton Lamprais. However, I felt a bit cheated with the Vegan Lamprais because it’s essentially the same but without any curry. Without any substitution to a non-vegetarian Chicken/Pork/Mutton Lamprais, this makes the vegan Lamprais dry and way more expensive it is the same price as any other Meat Lamprais. As much as I enjoyed the mix of flavours, I wouldn’t recommend the Lamprais if you’re getting it vegetarian/vegan as it just doesn’t justify the price. Even the meat Lamprais, I do think it’s a bit expensive as well as there wasn’t a lot of meat in it according to my mum. The place is spacious and airy, with a soothing and warm atmosphere. The staff were really friendly, helpful and attentive. We enjoyed our coffee and chai. Overall, the Lamprais we had was flavourful and unique but overpriced for what we got. They do have a lot of other interesting dishes on the menu and baked foods, so I will possibly visit Pamban again if I am in the area for good Chai, Coffee and snacks. If you are thinking of trying Pamban, do keep in mind that the prices are slightly higher compared to other stalls in Camden Market, but it is one of the shops/café in Camden Market that has nice spacious and comfortable seating if that’s what you are looking for.
Based on most of the reviews, I think we came at a bad time.. but the cafe *was* open, so not cool. It was pretty much empty when we arrived but all tables needed a wipe. Someone came as soon as we sat down and apologised while cleaning the table. He was very good about it, chatting while using his hand to shield us from the spray. We ordered at the counter and not long after a huge family group entered taking up many tables. After my husband received his awkward looking star anise G&T and many in the huge family group also received their drinks, I returned to the counter to ask about mine.. the Karak finally arrived in a disposable cup. The drinks were good but the experience overall was not worth a return visit.
Went here soon after it opened, and the chai is pretty awesome. Definitely worth a stop if you're in Camden, or even if you're not it's a good choice to go to for a nice afternoon tea! Have not tried the food there but will definitely be back. Service is friendly, and are helpful in suggestions and explanations.
Very nice spot in Camden, the cheese toast with chili jam was a little soggy definitely order something else, but the tea was fantastic and the desserts looked wonderful. Great place to stop for a break while exploring the neighborhood.
A perfect place to get a break from all the walking in Camden. The people here are wonderful & welcoming. They have a fantastic set of hit beverages, and they're all great and lovely pastries to go with it.!
A great find in the bustling market area at Camden Stables. The chai tempted us in an we indulged in that, hot chocolate, and a jaggery milkshake - which I was delighted to find, having not had one in this country. As expected it was delicious, with pistachio crumbled on top. I got barfi but will be back for a pistachio croissant. The staff are delightful - my only complaint was that it wasn’t too warm and they’d turned off the heaters inside. I turned one back on myself.
