Pak Food Stores is a staple shop for Indian cooking. We cook Indian dishes everyday at home and often run out of Onions, Ginger & Garlic. So the convenience of this store is attractive. However, today it opened late at 11.05 am. I am not aware why there was a delay? I know its a Sunday but children are awaiting their spicy curries and Keema at home. All the main spices can be obtained here. Even Heeng! We are Hindus so we cannot eat Halal meat. Anyway, Chicken is 18% cheaper at Lidl and Aldi just up the road from Pak. A single person can enjoy 9 different Indian dishes curries for £10 a week. Ask me to show you how? In this Cost of Living Crisis it might come in handy. £10 including the heating and Electric. Serious £10 a week. Basmati Chaval Pallou would cost you about 30p in Rice and 10p in Spices. Last 1 person 3 days. Any excess just bung it in the Freezer. If you cook 1 Chicken curry every week thats a saving of £26 a year. Finally, an ATM machine has been installed. Us customers have been asking for a conveniently located ATM for over a decade!
Miss this place. My family and I used to visit this place regularly for 4 years. The items were fresh, staff were friendly. If any item we felt were spoilt/damaged they exchanged it, provided prompt delivery to our home as I needed that initially when we did not have our own transport. From Frisco, TX, USA.
This store is great. I always call there whenever I am in Derby. There is a mind-blowing quantity and variety of excellent ingredients available at the right price, and some beautiful big cookware. I would recommend the store to anyone with a taste for delicious meals who wants something better than bland take - away dinners.
Great Asian supermarket where I buy my spices for Indian cooking. Good prices and quality. Lots of other food items including meat and fish. Lots of other items like cookery pots and utensils. Great selection of fresh fruits and vegetables outside front of shop including Asian items. Well recommended
You can buy some really unusual stuff in here. Ideal for buying spices and pickles that you can’t get in the usual supermarkets. I particularly like the vegetable section where you can get some great hot peppers in bulk such as the Naga Jolokia pictured.
a great super shop is mainly popular among the Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Indian and other Muslim people. You'll get almost every deshi masala spices and cooking ingredients here. Some biscuits, semai and chinigura rice from Bangladeshi company Pran are available as well. They got variety of Halal meat options too.
This store is very busy... if you park in their carpark and go over the 60minutes you get a 60pound fine and the manager does nothing about it. The ticket comes via post after 10days and the manager asks for the reciept of shopping.. like im going to hold onto the receipt that long. Money making scam.. .
Great selection of food. Especially fruits and vegetables. I had the pleasure of choosing the spices I needed for baking and cooking.
It’s a multi diverse like shopping centre I wi say. You can fine all sort of diff countries food items, pots all sorts to even an in-house butcher Halal Foods only. Staff are helpful and queue can be long sometimes but it moves. The only critic I will say is the parking area which is always jammed packed with cars even blocking the entrance
We regularly shoped here during our short stay in Derby. A short 10 minutes walk from the Derby city center on normanton road is this supermarket that caters primarily to the asian subcontinent and has a wide range of products imported from the subcontinent. From some who are long settled here in the UK, this is a place of nostalgia and for those recently moved to the UK this is sort of an existential crisis The customer service could do with a little tweaking. Prices are average. Fresh fruits, vegetables, and halal meat/chicken/beef/fish available here.
