Just spent 3 nights here. What a fabulous location. Off road walk to local knockerdown inn 2 min walk. Carsington water 5 min walk. Red lion Hognaston 20 min walk. Cycle, run or walk around the lake 8 miles. Great views. No facilities but we don't need them. Would have been nice to have a dog poo bin though. Had to walk to the local or down to the lake to deposit dog waste as I don't like it in the motorhome. Dropped a star as constant road noise that can't be helped, it does quieten at night. I think if you get on the rally field it will be quieter as it's a bit further away from the road. Overall a great off grid campsite and I wouldn't hesitate to book again when next in the area as we had a fabulous time. Thank you Paul.
Great views over Carsington water, due to field waterlogged not much pitches available yet, great price of £10, got the basics needed, fresh water and elsan point, will defo use again
We came to stay a few weeks back with two toddlers and a dog and what a lovely site! Basic, but exactly what we were looking for and the description set us up to know what was and wasn't there. Some lovely walks within a few minutes walk, fields were well kept and clean. Loved that we could pick our own pitch and we were allowed BBQs as long as it was off the grass which was perfect for marshmallow toasting loving toddlers! The owner/farmer was even happy to talk to the kids about the cows and let us watch whilst he was tending to one which my kids loved.nnWe made some lovely memories and it was exactly the 'reset' we needed before going back to work/school!nnWe will be back very soon.
Plain and simple campsite. Paul very friendly and helpful. Good walk down to the lake. Great place if you want to see the stars at night.nWhen we were there 28/3/22 the pub at the top of the road was closed for refurbishment.nGo on stay a few nights you will not regret it.
Great place to stay. £7.50 PER NIGHT. no facilties apart from elsan point and fresh water. Great views of Carsington water. Part of the site is on a slope so care to be taken if wet. Carsington water is only a short walk away. There is also a pub not far away where food is also served. Definitely a good place to visit
