Oxford Camping and Caravanning Club Site

Story

City break or countryside adventure, the choice is yours if you camp at our Oxford Club campsite. Located just a mile outside the centre of Oxford, the campsite is the perfect base for exploring the magnificent city of dreaming spires. Camping in Oxford doesn't get any better than this.

It’s hard to believe this pleasant bolt hole is so close to the city. It's restful ambience makes it ideal to kick back and relax after a day pounding the streets of Oxford. Trees line this well laid out site, pitches are level and a good range of facilities are available.

Walk, cycle or catch the bus (there’s a stop right outside the site) into the city and you’ll find plenty to see and do. Don’t miss the University Museum of Natural History (the most complete remains of any single dodo are here) and the Pitt Rivers and Ashmolean Museums, the latter has 67 galleries to explore. A guided walking tour is the best way to see the University colleges and botanic Garden. There are themed tours too including an Inspector Morse and a Harry Potter Tour. And a punt on the River Cherwell is a must.

The countryside around Oxford has its own delights. Not to be missed is the magnificent Baroque house – Blenheim Palace and its fine parkland in Woodstock. The Oxfordshire Museum is here too and tells the story of Oxfordshire through its galleries and exhibitions. The Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens is also worth a visit.

This really is the best of all the campsites in Oxford.

Dismal. One of the most expensive sites we've stayed on in the UK and second worst. Hugely disappointing. Pitch was fine but everyone crammed in. Area next to pitch was a dumping ground for waste. Train noise annoying. Industrial unit smashing around at 7am on a Sunday morning. Toilets and showers were clean, but the smell from the waste assume septic tank is rancid. Entrance past go outdoors is awful first impression. If we hadn't already paid we would have left. Location is not worth the price. Staff generally friendly
Compact and four square. Occasional train noise. Very handy for busses. Park and Ride five minutes walk away so no need to use the “Park”. Accepted local bus pass. Entrance quite strange, alongside Camping store. Do not overshoot as I did; took over an hour to negotiate extensive traffic jam to get back for second attempt since whilst towing there was nowhere to turn round. Very pleasant staff. Pair of swans with four cygnets on adjacent stream. Could hear the owl at night. Some pitches not level but I managed without blocks. 10 amp hook-ups so you get a list of consumption figures some of which were slightly under rated. An 800 watt microwave appliance takes 1275 watts to run it, not 1000. The “Friendly Club “ is well named. Highly recommended.
What a good site staff were very helpful and friendly, a small city site with clean amenities minimal noise from the train line that runs adjacent to site otherwise a quite city site, just a short bus ride to beautiful Oxford city centre and a 30 to 40 minute walk . We will be back.
A gem of a site just on the outskirts of Oxford. A very warm welcome by the site wardens. A quick jump on the park and ride into Oxford or a peaceful walk there if you enjoy a walk. Big thank you to the wardens for such a super welcome.
Great location for Oxford just a shame it's a bit tired really. Pitches are all over the place so finding a level is impossible. Staff great but a little pedantic over where to pitch. Showers etc clean but ready for a refurbishment. It's the location that makes it.....
Location is everything here. Around a 1 mile walk to the Oxford City center. We can also launch our kayaks into the stream insight to access the Thames and Cherwell rivers.
Great location for popping into Oxford. Hardly slept the first night due to being next to the train line and warehouses but asked to move the following day and the wardens were very nice and allowed us to move 6 pitches along. Where we didn't hear the trains hardly at all. The facilities smell and look to have been the original from the 70s. Staff were lovely. Site clean and well maintained. Poor facilities - why are the dishes sinks next to the chemical toilet waste area!
The staff are some good some not. The place is sited on a landfill site so work can only be done with council approval, hence the state of it. Stone age facilities must cost a fortune to run. But an excellent location with buses and cycling one would expect in a major city like Oxford
Lovely site and very handy for bus into Oxford. Wardens so helpful and pleasant. Toilet block is old and badly needs an upgrade but showers were hot and all facilities really clean. Beautiful walks only 20 mins walk from site along the River Thames.
Lovely little site hidden behind Go Outdoors..... Yes you do go down the side of the building!! Once on site the facilities are not new but well maintained and spotlessly clean. Pitches are grass but very firm and accessed via tarmac roads. Nice site with great staff within easy walking distance or park and ride bus from across the road of Oxford City centre. We would thoroughly recommend a visit and hope to return one day soon!!
