Long standing Turkish place opposite Saint Mary's. No where to park unless you want to get ripped off and pay. Food is very simple stuff but at least you can see exactly what you are getting. Everything I tried was well cooked and all simple dishes. The staff were well humoured even with people who were tipsy. They have toilets downstairs. Wheelchair accessibility: The front entrance has large stone steps!
Nice food, quick service and friendly staff.Food: 5/5
Food was ok, small portions of rice, meet was ok but had better, sauté potatoes are definitely not sauté potatoes and are some sort of sliced potato. Service 2 males was ‘ok’ but one of them a little over familiar and jokey for his own good. This can sometimes be received as sarcasm or rudeness so more sensitivity needed. It was ok but I would return, simply as I judge all Turkish restaurants by the standards set by Turknaz in Whitley Bay which is simply the best.
Very tasty, authentic Turkish cuisine. I dined there with my family, and everything was well taken care of. The owner was very friendly and kind; we had a lovely chat with him. He welcomed us with fresh strawberries and, without us asking, brought a dessert for our child after lunch. We definitely recommend it.Food: 5/5
We reserved a table as read the good reviews from here. A really good independent Turkish restaurant, very chilled and had some nice decorations around the restaurant. The staff were very friendly, chatty and attentive. Some wore fez hats and you could, if asked nicely, got given one to wear and pose with. It was great to be able to take our time and not feel rushed to get rid of us. The food was great, nicely cooked and generous portions. Starters: Hummus and Kalamar Mains: Mixed Grill Desserts: Ice Cream
My wife and I had a meal here on a Saturday night and it was beautiful. We didn't book and arrived at 8pm to be greeted by friendly staff. We ordered drinks and both had starters and main courses. The food was absolutely gorgeous and well worth the money. Friendly service, lovely food and value for money. We shall return.
It is a Turkish restaurant located in Clayton street west. The food is quite good and seems busy often. We went in without reservation, but lucky to get a space. Authentic food and reasonable prices. The menu is as of June 2023Food: 5/5
Work night out. food was very good and reasonably priced enjoyed dips and bread to start a main 2 glasses of wine about 35 pounds a personFood: 5/5
Love it here. Been multiple times over the years and always get excellent service from the lovely staff. The food is absolutely delicious and I've yet to find anything I don't like. Food is also served in good time and is nice and hot on arrival. Will be back here againFood: 5/5
I agree with the comment below. I would rate it 0 if I could. We reserved a table for 5 people as this restaurant came up as a nice place to dine at. We was en route to the restaurant 2 mins away and received a call. The man on the phone was very rude and was adamant for our quick arrival. When we got there it was very empty. We explained we have 3/5 of us present. The waitress wanted us to give drink orders as soon as we sat down. The experience immediately felt very rushed. I ordered calamari and lamb shoulder with mash. The calamari was oily and the lamb was very salty. Whilst eating, it was only 8:55pm our remaining 2 friends were coming. We had a small table so asker the waiter if we could be seated somewhere else as our friends are outside. The man abruptly said ‘NO’. When we asked why he said the kitchen is now closed. According to the website, the restaurant does not close till 11pm. The customer experience here was atrocious. Whilst sitting there we thought to check the reviews and saw someone there and just posted a review 2 minutes ago. The newest comment below mine. There was only 2 other small groups in the restaurant. A man came into the restaurant to place an order at 9:10 and was rudely turned away because the chef is cleaning the kitchen. We shared our experience with our waiter and she said ‘I am not the manager’. We went to Gino’s D'Acampo Restaurant and what a complete different experience. It was chilled, calm and the hospitality was beautiful.
