While my family and kids attended a country fair on the grounds of the estate, I decided to visit this summer residence of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. I was very pleasantly surprised. Beautiful, richly decorated rooms that are easily identified by easy to read signs, one doesn’t really need a formal tour, I prefer to admire this at my own pace. The pleasant staff was able to answer all of my questions. Photos are allowed. The gardens are very well-maintained and the view from the back terrace is simply stunning. I really wish that I had more time to enjoy walking closer to the ocean or to discover different paths through the estate. We purchased our tickets at the visitors building, that also has lots of souvenirs and different local products, jams , and alcohol. Restrooms are directly across from the visitor center, huge parking lot is free.
A beautiful house and gardens with a very interesting history linked to Queen Victoria.nA tour of the house is a must, it's a beautiful house filled with history and there are guides in every room who are very knowledgeable and enthusiastic.nThe grounds are large, beautiful and very well kept and includes a walled garden.nTo the rear of the house is a path leading to Queen Victoria's private beach, there's not much there but it's worth a visit, there is a good little cafe.nNot too far from the beach is Swiss cottage which is interesting because it's mainly related to the children. There's also a small cafe.
An amazing adventure awaits when you visit Osborne house. The summer home of Queen Victoria. One of the many treasures the Isle of Wight has to offer. True English history awaits when you stroll through the gardens, the beach with its stunning views of the mainland, and the home Victoria and Albert lived in. From the moment we entered the gates, you feel the excitement. Excellent parking, easy entrance, staff friendly and helpful. You tour at your own pace. This English gem is a must for the whole family
A fabulous day out. The setting is fabulous. Plenty to see. The grounds were a credit to the gardening team. We loved the Terrace Restaurant... very reasonable and lovely food ... recommend the Durbar Curry !
Have been a few times, and lovely hearing the different stories from the staff, always see something different. Love the walk down the beach and round the gardens. If you join english heritage, for two, it's almost the cost of the year, well worth it. Love seeing the pictures that Victoria herself painted and the bedroom where she died, lots of different rooms
