"This surgery was acquired in the Summer of 2001 and although operated as a totally separate surgery is complemented by the Shenfield surgery nearby. We are accredited by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons RCVS, as are all Best Friends Vet Branches. The practice has recently expanded to accommodate our increasing client base. Orchid is now a 3 vet surgery, with two exotic veterinary surgeons and a dedicated floor for exotic pets. The practice also has a large garden that the dogs can benefit from."

Highly Recommend The staff are so lovely and welcoming, well organised and appointments are seen on time. There was great care when handling my cat who has been unwell recently, I can’t thank them enough for helping her and glad I chose to take my cat there. Will be a regular customer.
Came here a couple of time to have my little kitten Nala checked and I’m very happy about it! They’ve been extremely careful with my little kitten and she just loves them! Recommended to a friend who soon are gonna bring their puppy in !
This is a fantastic vet they have been brilliant with all my animals and most recently as an emergency. All the staff are amazing. I can’t recommend enough.
I’ve always found this vet practice to be friendly, efficient, helpful and caring of each of my pets. Felt they were looked after professionally, with kindness and care. I was easily able to discuss topics of concern, too.
Although this vet is not a reptile specialist, my bearded dragon had came out of a fire with smoke inhalation and was very weak. The team at best friends gave him oxygen and fluids to keep him going until the other vets where ready for him. I cant thank them enough for this kind gesture.
I took my cat for to them so they could take dna swabs as they needed to be verified by a vet, so they took my cat somewhere and done them without me seeing, they brought her back after 5 minutes. They sent them off for the test which I payed for. The reply came from the lab to me and there weren’t done properly, and there wasn’t enough dna. I told them that it was their fault for doing the test wrong but they denied it, and I had to pay £50 for the consultation which wasn’t even done properly. I know have to pay for a new lab test as they messed it up.
Really bad care for my cat. Poor communication, no compassion, nothing explained and never once asked about my expectations. I have an elderly cat who was very poorly. Was told to collect him at a certain time. Turned up with my young children as just picking him up. No call beforehand but get there and told he needs to be taken to hospital in Epping. Kids now very distressed. Drove him myself to Epping. Really lovely vet at Epping who explained everything and asked what my expectations were. Very caring. Mentioned the tests that should have been performed one of which was testing the fluid that was removed. It had been discarded by orchid without testing. I sent an email to the head clinician at Best Friends asking for help and expressing my concerns. No reply. My cat has since passed away without knowing what was wrong with him.
I have never given a bad review before but this is deserved. I have been a client of Orchid vet for many year with many of my different pets over the years as it was convenient to walk to because parking is always a problem. I am also a member of the pet plan which is a monthly paying scheme. You can imagine my surprise when I turn up the other day to find out that they had relocated to Shenfield, no advance warning, no email informing members nothing! I got in touch with Shenfield to see if they could forward the worm and flea treatment that my cat normally has but only if I pay postage of £7! If they had informed clients before they moved it would have been much more considerate. Rant over.
Very kind and attentive, I feel like they really try their best for your pets and explain everything really well. Makes a stressful time easier
I will not be coming back here again, because my problems are not solved. The place is not clean, not tidy. The young vet doesn’t know anything about animals, always leaves me to ask questions. Everything you ask, you never get an answer because she doesn’t understand. I was put two times with the same vet and I wasn’t satisfied. They don’t recognise their own mistakes but just take the money.
