Waste of time.. Wouldn't recommend one vision to anyone now many years ago they used to be lovely treat people with respect an look after there tenants now you can't get any repairs done its like they just dump you in a place .think its a roof over your head and say deal with it !! I'm Fed up complaining .. been in a few houses over the years never have I been treated and complained as much as i do now within the last five years .so my answer is go private. As if I had enough money I would !!
Went to view a 'flat' today which I can only describe as an actual tip, I've never been so shocked in my life. There actually was a frog that had been cooked onto the oven, dirty nappies and rubbish all over the floor, ashtrays, ciggys, cans, food wrappers, rotten food, alcohol bottles and god knows what else everywhere all over the floor, furniture that was rotten and mouldy piled up, used stained duvets and clothes, no carpets just rotten dirty floorboards and it stunk of weed, it was actually shocking that anyone had lived there. I understand they are giving you a viewing so you can see the size of the flat and that you shouldn't look at the mess but I actually felt like it was unsafe to be in there and we had to wash our hands and shoes as soon as we left. The lady showing us was trying to be polite and say that they will clean the mess and remove the furniture but when we asked about the floor and walls being in such a state she said 'that counts as decorating so you'd have to do all that yourself' meaning they'd let you live in that state unless you could afford the carpets and paint. Can't believe that anyone would take a dog into that flat never mind letting a person view it. Makes you wonder how they'd treat you as a tenant if they think it's suitable to let you go into a place in that state. It was my first experience using any housing association and its shocked me to the core. Absolutely disappointed.
I had reported a repair on a outside gas cuboard to be fixed that is situated on a external wall next to my drive. When locked the cuboard would unlocked over 24hurs as it's worn resulting in the gas cuboard door smacking into my car. Repair men came out and said nothing is wrong with it and no repair or replacement. I did explain over time it comes lose and opens. One windy day the cuboard opens and damages my car denting it. I reported repair to my car and gas cuboard they where quick to replace the cuboard but not my car exspense as it was their fault for neglected repair when I reported it. Disgraceful service and won't pay out for there mistakes. I've also had the plumbers use my bed as work space putting oil all over my bed with rips in the bed sheets. Awful don't rent off these st all!!!!
Do not listen to what tenants want. Constantly midering . Too slow at repairs. Told them I didn't need all my windows replacing but they insist they have to do them all. So they obviously don't listen what the tenants Want it's their way or not at all.
Shocking experience dealing with faceless pencil pushers behind desks, buy some face to face workers are excellent. My warden Karen is a lovely person, but I can't say the same about some in h.q. Twice I've had to report them to the Ombudsman, the first re antisocial behaviour, nothing done, now for their obstinate refusal to re-house a disabled vulnerable person. She went to Riverside in the end after a year and a solicitor. Great face to face, abysmal behind desks.
My landlord for over 10 years, accommodation is great, had new kitchen, windows, door and upgraded bathroom since moving here. Repairs always done in a timely manner, they gas check regularly and always supply gas safety check form swiftly via post
