Saturday afternoon visit for 2. This is an old school in the middle of nowhere just off the main road and we have visited several times. This time we had lunch. It is a traditional cafe restaurant with about 20 covers indoors and a number of picnic tables outside. It specialises in home made scones and they are fresh and delicious. The limitations of the building mean that disabled access is limited. The main door is narrow and there is a small step to overcome. Having said that the staff are helpful and accommodating as you try and get in. This place is usually busy so call before you go...although when I called this time I couldn't get through, they fitted us in on spec. There is parking available although at peak times you may end up on the road. The site is very popular with cyclists. There used to be table clothes which made the place look much nicer, not sure why this has stopped but it looks much more "motorway services" than it used to. I had carrot and corriander soup which was substantial and delicious along with cheesy chips. The chips were simple oven chips but we're well cooked and tasty. We also had a chilli jacket which was pleasant, the chilli had a slightly synthetic taste but wasn't unpalatable. The decor is shabby chique with pine floors and a high, school hall, ceiling, lovely atmosphere. On another visit I had the Sunday roast and that was amazing, really tasty and well done. Sadly no whole milk for lattes and flat whites so be warned if you love your coffee. The tea was excellent. I will definitely go back, especially for the cakes and scones. If you found my review helpful I would be grateful for a . Parking: To the rear there are around 12 spaces Wheelchair accessibility: Poor to none although there is disabled parking reserved. Dietary restrictions: There was GF cake on display.
Called in for lunch, ate outside. Service was friendly and fast. We had sandwhich platter which was delicious and filling. Would recommend if passing. Parking: Parking for about 12 to 15 cars.
Perfect break from cycling around Clumber with an unexpected dog leg due to a shut gate x we had worked up an appetite..... Idyllic location outside, friendly and perfect service amazing food at good value price! Thanks for a lovely break off the saddle!
We've been here twice for lunch and both times were not disappointed! The service is exceptional and the food is really tasty with huge portions! My personal highlight is the homemade soup, which is absolutely excellent!Food: 5/5
Being a fairly regular visitor to this cafe and loving their bacon, brie and cranberry panini best I've ever tasted. I was disappointed in the food today. A friend and I decided to go and have a Turkey Xmas lunch. Roast potatoes tough, pig in blanket overcooked, vegetables bland all swimming in a watery flavourless gravy. The test of a cafe is would you go back, yes we would go back to The Old Scholl House but no we wouldn't have a Xmas lunch again.
Nice little tearooms. Quick service & tasty food. Gluten free, veggie & vegan options available. Flat paved car park with disabled parking. Gets better reviews than the nearby cafe at Clumber Park. Photos include vegan cottage pie, gluten free apple & blackberry crumble & custard.
Having been to the tea rooms numerous times ,I went again on 29th Nov,food was excellent as always and the staff friendly and efficient ,definitely recommend eating here.
Booked for Sunday lunch. Food was delicious and well presented. Great price Super value. All staff polite and attentive. Parking: Ample parking for the amount of guests.
My mother and myself went here for lunch today, we'd never been before, it was raining so we sat inside, the building had so much character due to it being an old school room, the female member of staff who we spoke to first was very pleasant and welcoming towards us, she bought us a menu and went through what the specials were and what flavour soup it was, we both decided on the following to eat: A bowl of soup, butternut squash and coconut with a hint of spice served with a warm bread roll, butter was optional. A brie, bacon and cranberry panini served with fresh salad, coleslaw, potato salad and crisp. To drink we had a pot of tea for two and a glass of wine. The food was absolutely delicious, if it had been possible we would have taken a large container of the soup home with us due to how lovely it tasted. We were to full to have a desert whilst we were there so we took a piece of black forest gateaux and a cheese scone home with us, we had them later and, like the food we had earlier, they to were delicious. We have booked to have Sunday lunch there on the 9th of October and can't wait as we know it's going to be beautiful. We cannot recommend this place enough, our first visit here but it definately won't be our last, all the staff were so warm and welcoming towards us, we can't compliment them enough. If you're ever in the area then this place is definately a must to visit.
Great tearoom on a sunny day sat outside watching the world go. Food was tasty and the staff were delightful and attentive.
