Really a great place to spend your evening.... Watching your favourite sport and having a good tasty food
Really large pub with good size car park. Food nicely presented, reasonably priced but quite average. Toilets were spotless which is something I always find reassuring. All staff were pleasant and welcoming. You must register your car if parking on the car park otherwise you get a fine.
The old ball appears to be struggling at the moment and it's understandable with running costs and decreasing footfall. The pub is well laid out. It was noted that there was only one bitter on and no cask ales - not even any Guinesss. Lagers tasted flat and we're poor. They probably need to chop down the lagers and get some proper beer in. You have to feel sorry for hospitality industry, it's been relentless.
A nice relaxing meal unfortunately tainted by an £85 parking fine. Despite the apparent "signage" in the pub which I have read in reviews, it was not clear in the slightest within the pub. As multiple reviewers have noticed this unfortunate issue and it is definitely losing custom due to this problem, I think its smart to have clear signage at the bar much like Fox and Hounds near Horsforth station do. Personally I will not be returning to this pub again. The service was not very personal/professional. We felt ignored at the bar. The kitchen staff seemed lovely and cooked great food too. Its a shame, but there are plenty of nearby pubs that dont use EuroParks to taint your stay.
We don't come here often but it's been pleasant over the last year when we have. It's got nice open spaces Inside and is clean and tidy. We've enjoyed quiet afternoons, but haven't been on an evening for a long time. There's a pool table and they show BT Sports which might get get there for an evening actually!. The service at the bar was pretty disappointing on our last visit, but nicely overshadowed by the food service. The menu is small, and not great for me being coeliac, there wasn't anything I could adapt and didn't fancy getting into detailed discussion about options with the bar staff. So I opted not to eat, but my other half chose a pizza and was really impressed- love that they have a pizza oven on site!
REOPENED 24/01/19 after renovation . I have only visited the outside so far , and that only from the exterior at night! Part of the renovation appears to be two new smoking ? sheds at the front of the building . There’s a large outdoor patio with chairs and tables which now is well lit at night . The car park to the rear is also well lit and patrons are advised to record their vehicle reg at the bar . There is a smoking shed by the rear door . This door is also the disabled entrance , and is flat and level into the building . There is also a handrail. Disabled parking I found a little disappointing as there were three marked bays next to rear door but they were not sized out properly and a side loading wheelchair would have great difficulty due to the spacing between spaces not being adequate . My vehicle is rear loading and is quite large , but the space looked small. It’s also a sloping car park and I shall return to assess the building and check out the interior .
Unfortunately our experience wasn't very good. We had 7 people but only 6 meals arrived. The pie base on two meals were rock hard and dry probably overcooked. The cheesy chips were also dry. Couldn't recommend this place at all. To reply to the owner comment you need to get the facts correct. 1 member of our party ordered via the app. The rest of us ordered via the till, it was written on the back of a piece of paper, the pen was borrowed from one of your staff. We paid cash at the till. Your young lady who was front of house was very polite and did her best to help. That's the 1 star.
Great service. Clientele seems to be comprised 90% of local builders and tradesmen who tend to congregate around the entrance like a gang of Jackson Pollock inspired bouncers. But they tend to be harmless enough and allow folk to get by so long as said folk don't mind too much the smell of Brut aftershave and stale cigarettes. A nice place for outdoor drinking whilst awaiting your HK Supercook meal to be prepped across the road.
Recently parked in their carpark while I went in to watch a football match. Ordered food and a few drinks and having had a drink I obviously got a taxi home. Returned in the morning to collect my car, and a couple weeks later got an £80 parking fine from the lovely people at Euro car parks. I will never go back to this pub every again, so it will cost them far far more than the parking fine I had to pay out. BEWARE, their car park is an extortion scheme. Horrendous for a scheme like this to be in place at your local pub, you cant even go for a drink in peace anymore!
I had the Notorious P.I.G burger, honestly the best thing I'd tasted in a long while. Be careful when ordering through the QR code, I ended up with side salad instead of chips.
