This guys just saved my day. Had a broken left shifter and they fixed it quite quickly. So I could move on on my bikepacking journey. Very qualified and friendly guys over there. Even better: you can enjoy a coffee and brownie right next to it while waiting.nCan definitely recommend this workshop!
Fabulous en-route help when my chain was misbehaving. Dropped in for help and within a few minutes I was back on track with a new chain and fully oiled mechanism. Can’t recommend highly enough.
On my most recent visit to OC 8/23I had 3 specific jobs I wanted them to address, buckled rear wheel, Kiox computer reset and gear cable replacement/tune. On the job card these were listed with the manager of the shop. From experience elsewhere we also added a note to say no other work.nOn collection the bike was brought out from the work shop and the bill was immediately generated on the till by the manager. When I asked if we could talk through the work he seemed a little uncomfortable. I noticed the paperwork had been stapled to the crossbar which I removed and read. In this was a an inner tube at £8. When I queried the manager said, ‘oh yes we noticed a slow puncture so replaced it’. I was well aware of the slow puncture and pointed this out also explaining that I’m very comfortable replacing this type of thing at a cost half this. After a comment along the lines of ‘most of our customers would want us to do this’. The next suggestion from the manager was to put the old one back on. He walked out to the workshop and returned to say he would remove the cost from the bill. I said thankyou and offered to pay cost price for the tube which was dismissed. When payment was completed the same chap to my amazement then said I don’t like your attitude and I don’t want you to use the shop again. When I asked what had prompted this is I was told ‘ I can’t believe you have queried the tube’. This was follow by several other comments about the state of repair of my bike, at which point I walked out.nI have never written a review like this, I run a successful medical company and would never dream of treating a custom like this. For me its more the principal here and having parts added without approval is NOT acceptable anywhere.nThe coffee shop looks great but check your bill carefully in the bike shop and expect a difficult conversation if it’s not what you expect.
I was doing my first time trial & this was the place to sign in for it. The race was a couple of weeks ago on the Sunday. On the Saturday I was in Looe . I had put my bike together & decided on a quick ride to check it over. Four miles down the road my gear cable snapped! It was 4.45 pm with not a lot of options I decided to call the shop as it was open until 8.00! A very helpful man talked me through how to remove the broken bit of cable from the hand grip. He also said if I couldn't I could drive up and he would look at it. However it came out ok.nThe plan was then to replace before the race! It started at 8.00 Sunday morning. I got my bike up there , bike repaired & still managed to do the race . A massive thank you for doing this at 7.00 on a Sunday. I think I'm right in saying it was the manager Darren that saved the day. Ps apologies if I got your name wrong... cheers Nick Carter
What a fantastic place. We are doing the Devon Coast to Coast Ilfracombe to Plymouth and back. My bike developed a really annoying rubbery / whistling noise. I had no idea what it was. I called in to Okehampton Cycles on spec after putting up with the noise for two days. I was dealt with almost immediately and so cheerfully. My bike was sorted in minutes and I was off again. The annoying noise has gone and the ride is much smoother. A big thank you to the team.
