Interesting little chapel with a pretty amusing back story as to how it was re-discovered. There's very little here to see but worth a stop if you are nearby
Lovely place, English Heritage , free entry, then head for the Lower Lode Pub on the river
An interesting snippet of history hidden away near the river. Worth a visit if in the area.
Fascinating Saxon church of great interest and well cared for. Also a good location for the Severn Way riverside walk. Limited parking. Keep an eye open for dog fouling.
Such a hidden gem. We were out walking in the Severn flood plain and came across this jewel. Beautifully preserved and well worth a visit if you like your history
Not really a great deal to do here but the surrounding countryside is lovely to explore. Parking is on an honesty box system, fifty pence for two hours or a pound for more. Seems fairly reasonable to me! The old church building is nearly a thousand years old and reflects the simple building style of the time.
Visited on a sunny Friday in September. The river Severn 200 yards opposite made a great Spot for picnic and dog walking after parking in the donations - box car-park. Leaving the car there is a 5 minute walk to the Chapel of St Mary just down the quiet road. We took the dog into both without problem. On a busy summer's weekend I would imagine the small capark would be filled very quickly, whilst the narrow road may cause some difficulties.
Gorgeous little Saxon chapel. The area around it is beautiful. Take a picnic and walk down to the river!
A wonderful old piece of Saxon history near Deerhurst, Gloucestershire.
Love the work that has been done to restore and preserve this beautiful little chapel.
