For the price you pay per month (which was currently £59 for the adult on 12 months), I think it's way too expensive for the features and facilities that they've got available. It's generally not busy so you've always got access to the machines you want to use in the upstairs gym. + * They provide towels * They provide shower gel (though read the negatives) * Sauna, Steam Room, Cold Pool, Jacuzzi, Main Pool for after your workout (or without a workout if you just want to relax I guess) * Hair dryers can be used without any charge * It's generally clean of litter (though read the negatives) * Staff are friendly * Cool radio system so you can plug your earphones into the machines and listen to the various TV's or the floor's music ----- - * You'd rather bring your own shower gel, often there's none in the dispenser so you have to move to a different shower cubicle, or the dispenser is partly broken and isn't releasing anything *The showers (at least the mens) smells badly, you'd rather hold your breath if you're walking past it *Although it's clear of litter, the minor areas are never cleaned such as the tilings or floorings with weird rust type marks in the shower areas, or the steam room which is probably never cleaned and ends up smelling (not to mention looking up and seeing gunk in the lights), the walkway to the upstairs gym also has tons of dead bugs in the lights.

Been a member for 3 months and can tell you that the gym isn't worth the money you pay. Pool is like a public baths and the school holidays are a nightmare, I've kids myself but if I want balls throwing at me and water splashed in my face I'll go to a public pool. They push junior weekly memberships in holidays to get more kids in, it's ridiculous as the gym is massively over subscribed. It's a miracle if you can get in the pool and have a swim and an even bigger miracle of you can get in the sauna, Jacuzzi or steam room. On the plus side there's always plenty of room in the gym.

I have been going to Nuffield for 2+ years now and I wanted to share some constructive feedback. I know the Nuffield staff respond here and I think public discourse is in everyone's favor so I chose this(Google) platform. I do not mean to cause offense and hope my feedback is taken in a constructive fashion. Pros: - Staff are great. They just leave you to do your thing but help out if you need it. I once had a messed up shoulder and for no charge I was looked at and sorted, all part of my membership which wasn't really supposed to be free but the staff just get on with it to avoid red tape. I often bring my baby in and they are really good with storing the baby seat and/or letting my wife through to get him to the pool. - Cafe is great. The food is healthy, fresh and served by extremely friendly staff. - Gym facilities are great. There is ample equipment and space to do your thing. I have only on rare occasion struggled to access the machine I want to access. - Towels are free. No awkward conversation about why you aren't carrying a 50 pence piece. There was a bit of awkwardness where you had to ask for a towel but that rediculous policy was overturned (by the grace of sanity) so good job whoever took care of that! - Lockers are free and don't require guest to bring padlock. Some nuffield gyms do this and it's a really horrible user experience. - When something serious (IE pool) is broken an SMS is sent to the guests. This is a great use of technology, good job! - Access / opening hours for off peak subscribers are great and the cost saving is really beneficial for people who have flexible working hours. Cons: - Something is always broken, always, without exception. I'd say this is a major issue but it isn't, the reason being is that when something does get broken it's often replaced with new. The advantage of new being obvious however the disadvantage is the cost in time to replace, for example the only shower in the swimming area was broken for 3+ weeks. Fix lead times are often poorly communicated. To fix this the gym can just improve communication (by the way of notices/signs) which is super easy to implement and I hope to see. - The cafe staff are often overstretched though and often there is no one available to serve you. This is an easy enough fix (employ more staff to handle the cafe area). - Advertisements, everywhere, always. On a premium service this is not acceptable in 2017. They are incredibly obnoxious too with both posters, tv/video and audio. This is an easy enough fix (remove third party advertisement from facility). - Gym blue roll / cleaning spritzers availability is a lottery. I'd quite happily just replace them myselfs so perhaps the gym could just put a shelf out at the start of the day with 20 or so blue rolls and spritzers and let the responsible enough guests put out fresh ones when the available ones are depleted. - The access control system to the building could do with being modernized. It uses magstripe technology which had it's place in the 90s but could do with being upgraded to something using RF. This would cause less "fail reads" and awkward standing at a static turnstyle. This is an easy enough fix (introduce RF over time and issue new cards [phased]) Overall: For what you get, it is overpriced but I think that's partially intentional to set itself apart from other gyms in the area and to engage with a specific demographic. In turn this decision creates an environment of guests who care and invest in their fitness center. I hope the issues I have stated can be easily addressed without going through head office but sadly I expect this isn't the case. Hopefully the local branch staff can forward my feedback onto head office and all Nuffield gyms can benefit.

When this gym first opened it must have been outstanding and still could be with just a little effort. Customer service has been very disappointing in its response to an issue about equipment not being replaced when broken and taken out of service and routine maintainence. The gym also lets itself down on small issues such as receiving an "hello" when arrive at gym (half the time reception staff do not even look up from desk). After 4 years coming to this gym, in frustration I have not renewed membership and have found another. Which is a pity as it is a nice gym and could be fantastic and for the prices it charges it should be. Would not recommend.
