Just returned home after a long weekend in Bournemouth. We originally booked a two berth but unfortunately this was unavailable due to technical issues at the last minute, Mike called me to say he had "upgraded" us to the 6 birth !! Beautiful unit and spotless. Unfortunately we got clipped by an uninsured Irish van which took the mirror off. This was sorted by Mike on our return - absolutely no issues otherwise, needless to say we`ve booked another in October with the Grandkids Couldn`t recommend these guys enough see you in October AAA+++++ Thanks Mike.
DON'T HAND OVER ANY MONEY TO THIS COMPANY! SCAM OPERATION. Having paid two deposits of £250 to Mike at Northern Leisure back in October for two hires this year we hadn't been able to get hold of Mike to pay the balance due on our April rental via credit card. Hundreds of calls that have gone unanswered and emails not replied to. Then I came across all of these reviews. Thank goodness we haven't been able to pay the balance! This company is committing fraud by taking deposits and balances on bookings he clearly cannot honour. I would suggest that he's hoping he can say that we're in breach of contract by not paying the balance therefore giving him opportunity to keep the deposits. We all need to make reports to Action Fraud as suggested on one of the posts below and also I'd suggest to the insolvency service who can investigate the conduct of company directors. Update: We received a letter yesterday from Northern Leisure advising that from 1 April all bookings will be cancelled and that the company will cease trading from that date due to illness and financial difficulties. If the company has ceased trading it should be shown as such on Companies House. It is still shown as 'active'. The letter advises us to contact our credit card provider for a refund which we've already done. Just thought it may be useful to share this info with others.
AVOID!!! Booked with Northern leisure and had our holiday cancelled on 31st December due to family issues fully understandable however we have never received a refund even though we were promised one. I have emailed numerous times however had no response, Mike has been sent my bank details numerous times! The phone just rings. I received one email apologising and promising the money on Tuesday saying I’ll have the full £800 refund by the end of the week, it’ll come as no shock that I never received a refund! Update - please can I advise everybody affected by Mike’s fraud to contact action fraud to report him as a criminal case is now being sought.
We received a letter from Northern Leisure Motorhome Hire on Monday 4 April 2022 saying they were ceasing trading from 1 April and all subsequent bookings cancelled. Had paid deposit via BACS transfer so that's lost and we now have no motorhome for our forthcoming trip. Companies House and Insolvency Service say the company's status is "active" which means they are still trading contrary to the letter we received. Only redress is breach of contract. Feel so sorry for others who have lost more and turned up to collect their van to find premises locked. Truly terrible customer service. A bit of a shock as we used them last year and they were fine. Also looking at Companies House there are listed three earlier companies with very similar names operating in the same part of Yorkshire each of which has been dissolved on an annual basis. Different company addresses and directors so may be fine. Just a slight pattern as the present company now seems to be closing too.
Just been to collect the camper which I’ve paid in full for and can confirm they are no longer here. The business next door are taking over the unit tomorrow and the signs coming down. Speaking to neighbouring businesses there is a lot of people being scammed. Tried to contact him on his mobile but no answer, he has seen a WhatsApp message I sent and has ignored me. I’ve been in touch with the bank who are investigating. I will also report to action fraud, trading standards etc. Such a shame as we have used the company before and they was fantastic. To allow people to turn up for a holiday and find an empty building and yard is disgraceful. At least inform them so they have a chance to make alternative plans. Karma will hopefully bite hard on this scumbag
This was our first experience with a motorhome and we were glad of the good support that Mike from the company gave us which gave us the confidence to maximise the 5 days we hired it for. We had an upgraded larger vehicle than we had planned for which proved to work out quite well giving more space inside the vehicle for us to enjoy even though it was bigger to drive on the roads.. The vehicle was in a good clean condition when we collected it and the handover and walk round on the equipment was well explained and easy to follow. Mike was on the end of the telephone when we set up at our first campsite to confirm we had correctly connected everything up so we could rest easy. From then on we drove over 500 miles staying at 5 different campsites and after getting into the swing of things found it really easy to connect and disconnect everything each day. We had no real problems with the equipment inside the vehicle and thoroughly enjoyed our 5 nights away in it. The only downside we experienced was that with the vehicle being so big parking was a real issue at small villages along with driving on some of the smaller roads and you really need another form of transport to get about when set up at campsites that are not within walking distances of towns/villages. Apart from that we would hire again and would recommend Northern Leisure to anyone considering as well. B & S.
We had a booking for December, paid it all in full to be told due to a family emergency they had to cancel and issue a refund. A month later after I emailed back, I sent a secondary email to chase this … eventually I received a cheque in the post despite providing my bank details as requested. On depositing the cheque I received a letter from the bank to say the cheque had bounced. I have emailed 3 times with no reply and phone multiple times with no reply. It’s extremely frustrating and poor customer service. Absolutely avoid.
Thanks Mike, we had a fab few days away in your motorhome, it was a "try before we buy " experience and we now know what we do and don't want. You were at the end of the phone when we needed a little help with some small things. Thanks again A n G
***AVOID***AVOID***AVOID*** Mike showed me a campervan, we agreed dates of hire and I paid a deposit. Now the balance is due so I have been ringing and emailing but there is no answer. Gave one star as there's no option to give no stars EDIT 5th April: I, too, have received the letter saying the company has ceased trading. It advised me to ask my credit card company to refund the deposit. As others have suggested, I have contacted Action Fraud. If you are searching Mike online, you may come across what looks like another company using the same name and conducting the same business but registered at a Baildon address. I've found out this is his accountant's office, which Mike is using as his registered address.
Fraudsters. One star because you cant leave a zero. Booked and paid a £250 deposit in October to hire a motorhome between Christmas and New year. We had no correspondents afterwards. Emailed on Christmas eve to find out what time we could collect the motorhome, only to be told that they had cancelled all bookings until the end of January. I asked for a refund on the deposit. No response. Then February 12th, I contacted them again for the umpteenth time, finally they replied, 'apologies, please give bank details', which I did straight away, and then once again no response. The next step will be to drive over to see them. Don't waste your money. Edit - Adding to this review to counter the fictitious response left by the business. I am amazed you have replied to this review within an hour or so of posting it, yet I have emailed you multiple times requesting a refund over the last 6 weeks with just the one response yesterday. But still no refund. Yesterday I gave my details 3 times to add to the email with bank details given on Christmas Eve. No booking confirmation stated when a full balance payment was due. We didn't have anything to state the booking had been cancelled due to any none payment. Thankfully everything is done in writing via emails and can be investigated in small claims court that no cancellation email had been set to us for none payment. Furthermore, I have multiple one way emails to you which are classed as legal documents. Please rest assured that I will not go away until we have a refund.
