The society was formed out of the North Somerset Ploughing Society in 1840 by a group of farmers. The sole purpose was to promote and showcase agricultural development to both those involved in farming and agriculture as well as to promote an agricultural awareness to the general public. Many of the basic traditions can still be found in today's show with the emphasis still being very much on agriculture. The showing of livestock, horses and demonstrations of local and rural skills and crafts still play an important part of the show

The "Dig for Victory" show was on, and the fields had been set up with good amenities, food, and entertainment. The parking is always well controlled here and access is not a problem. (But basically the showground is just some fields!)

Went to the North Somerset Show for the first time in a few years. It was a sunny day for the most part and we loved walking around. It was a ver good show. We saw lots of farm animals, tractors and enjoyed the motorcycle display and birds of prey show. Would recommend. The only negative point was it took us an hour and half to get out of the carpark at the end of the day, with lots of cars jumping the queue by driving diagonally across the field.

Good venue only had one problem that was with the agility show entrance should have been separate so us agility addicts can get in and out easy with our dogs during runs
