Despite it being Easter holidays we were seen to, seated and served extremely promptly. Service was excellent and when the food arrived we weren't disappointed. I had haddock and chips with mushy peas with mint sauce. It was utterly delicious. To be honest I couldn't fault them, especially as they were extremely busy and coped admirably. Very happy to recommend.
There is the restaurant and a takeaway counter at the back alley. Queue was rather long and we waited for quite a while to collect our food. We only ordered a haddock to try it out and it was so good! Fish is so fresh and batter is light and crispy. Probably the best fish and chips without the chips we had in UK by far.
It really is the No. 1 place for fish and chips. Plenty of seating inside to protect you from the pesky seagulls. The staff are friendly and the place is kept nice and clean. The chips were absolutely fantastic, soft and fluffy on the inside nice texture on the outside - very well balanced. My partner had a halloumi burger which tasted amazing and I had the battered sausages which had the perfect crunch and they weren't super greasy. Nice music and a good atmosphere and is very kid friendly. If you're lucky to get a window seat you have a great view of the Cromer pier and the North sea. Vegetarian options: They have a very good halloumi burger I'm unsure about other options. Kid-friendliness: Lots of families seated around kids seemed to be having fun and enjoying their food with parents happy about it. Parking: Plenty of parking options nearby but luck of the draw with spaces on busy days. Wheelchair accessibility: I believe there is a ramp to the door but alternatively they have the outdoor takeaway bit on the side. Dietary restrictions: Our waitress asked us about any dietary requirements before we ordered and they seemed to have options on the menu for alternatives if you needed them.
Fabulous Fish and Chips We opted for the mini fish and chips that was a perfect size. The batter was lovely and light. The staff were very Efficient and worked well under pressure . I Would say get there pretty much as soon as they open at 12 as it gets busy very quick in the summer holidays. Kid-friendliness: Childrens fish and chips in buckets. Kids loved it.
Really good food - not the cheapest, but you get a decent portion. It looks like it's much cheaper if you takeaway. The restaurant itself has seaviews which I enjoyed, and they're still observing some of the social distancing rules, which I appreciated - such as one way in/one way out, most people wearing masks.
I can see actually taste why No.1 is considered one of the best fish and chips places in England. It has more than just Fish, but we went there specifically for the fish and were not disappointed. I also think it was the best tarter sauce I've ever had. They have THE BEST location in Cromer too! Hughest recommendation to try them.
Good fish and chips. Also had salt and pepper squid for starter and partner had the battered Prawns, both tasty. Didn't have to wait long to be seated, got there right at lunch time. Great views of the sea. Only downside was long wait to get the bill and curry sauce was slightly more watery than we like but nothing major. Overall great experience.
£3.50 for 3 scoops of ice cream is a good deal compared to other ice cream places in Norfolk which are at least £3.50 for just 2 scoops. The flavours to choose from aren't vast and they don't have all of the flavours advertised on their board available, which is a shame. But the ones I did try were really nice and you get a decent portion too. My favourites were the blueberries & cream and rhubarb & custard - would definitely recommend!
Came for lunch here on our visit to Cromer. Sat in the upstairs dining area which had a great view of the sea. Food was lovely and fresh. Staff were very pleasant. Great value for money.
Staff very friendly and welcoming. A good selection on the menu. The batter is so light!! Half way through the main course and wow, it was a generous portion!! We had a window table and enjoyed the sea view, watching the tide come in.Food: 5/5
