This place is quite a find. Off the beaten track round the corner from Kings Cross station. There is an excellent selection of salads and other lovely foods, all freshly made by the fun, bearded, hip-hop loving proprietor. He makes the whole place come alive. Breakfast is particularly good there, and very reasonable. The homemade baked beans and chorzio are amazing.
Proper foodgasm. Amazing food, great selection with different offerings throughout the day, really nice staff, Niven the owner is obviously passionate and this really comes across in the freshness of the ingredients, the selection, presentation, everything. So good we ate there again on day 2 of our 2-day stay in London.
Niven's is one of only a handful of places in Kings Cross which can provide a healthy, tasty lunch at a reasonable price. Good choice of hot and cold dishes and salads. Small eat in area but I usually take away. Also does breakfast and good coffee. I am grateful Niven is just a short walk from my office.
I don't know why anyone would go to the Costa next door when they could get their coffee and breakfast here! The coffee is excellent, the staff friendly and the surroundings cosy. Instead of the usual coffee-shop acoustic twiddlings they play Pink Floyd, Dr Dre, and Bob Marley. I give 4 stars rather than 5 as there is no customer lavatory and the breakfast pastry I had was tasty but could have been a little more crisp and delicate.
This tucked-away coffee shop has a homely feel while being firmly founded in the 'builder's tea' bracket. Small picnic table at the back is good for a coffee and catch up on quiet mornings and the homemade sausage rolls look extremely appetising. A nice alternative to King's Cross's bigger, more showy venues.
Cute, tiny cafe a shared table seats perhaps 8 which does extremely good coffee in an area with few other options. The packed takeaway sandwiches are very popular especially the full English although the owner does seem to occasionally suffer from the grumps...
If I could give Niven's more stars I would. Delicious, scratch-made, seasonal food. and just about the friendliest, most generous staff on hand. Do not miss out.
Mr Niven has done a great job here. Visited with my Polish wife and kids and some friends on the 1st to 4th May, stayed in the Holiday Inn nearby. Breakfast of rasher sandwiches, Spanish black pud, dark black coffee - simply delicious. The Poles were all questions - Mr Niven was all cool. What got me most was when Mr Niven asked me if I wanted my porridge done with water or milk - obviously he can recognise a walking cholesterol bomb when he sees one! Thanks Mr Niven
A local lunch place that is independent of places like Pret dotted all around King's Cross. Lots of salad selection and different daily specials. You normally get a box full of salad which are extremely tasty. However, they are sometimes slightly on the salty side.
Great food. All home made with very best ingredients. Small team of really nice and friendly staff. Salt beef my favourite
