First time in here for many, many years. Forgotten what a good pub this is, with excellent food and even better beer. Friendly service and big outdoor space too at the back. It was quiet on a Wednesday lunchtime but I suspect it’s busy in the evenings and weekends especially probably for the Sunday roasts. Lovely to have open fire too for a bit of extra atmosphere.
Last week we had the pleasure of spending our afternoon/evening at The Nightingale. We were hosting friends from abroad and wanted to take them to a lovely traditional pub. Having been there several times before, we knew The Nightingale was it. We booked a table for 10 ranging from ages 2-45!! very easily and staff were more than happy to accommodate with a table outside near the lovely cosy booths with heaters if children are cold! at the end of the pub garden. When we arrived at 4pm the pub was bustling. We actually recognised some friendly faces from our previous visit so clearly a lovely 'local' for some. Our table was ready when we arrived and there is more than enough fantastic staff to deal with our large request of several rounds of drinks and food. There is a great selection of both and everyone had an absolute brilliant day. Thank you Nightingale!!
Lovely traditional pub with TV muted and no piped music. Food was delicious chairs lovely and comfortable. Very nice Sunday lunch.Food: 5/5
The Nightingale, funnily enough, on Nightingale Lane! A splendid venue by Young's & Co. A gorgeous bar with plenty of nooks and crannies in which to enjoy a beer or two. Lovely staff to help with the aforementioned task! There is a delightful covered garden terrace at the back with loads of seating. All in all a most delightful place to visit.
Outstanding little pub, super cozy! The Manager Ian was incredibly helpful and kind, would definitely recommend this place for anyone in the mood for a cozy date night or night out with the familyFood: 5/5
I booked this pub for a larger party/watching the Euros and it was great! The atmosphere was really good, staff were amazing and the space was lovely, it was great to have covered space outside so we could be there even when it rained a bit.Food: 5/5
This was £14!!!! Order a board to SHARE. It’s 1 slice of bread, 1 sausage roll, and some ham and cheese. Ohmyyyyyyygod I know how to waste money but this is the biggest waste of money I’ve ever put myself through. By the way, all my friends said the picture makes it look bigger than the board actually was. It was only fit to feed a sylvanian family member. Just one member of the family, mind you.
Tasty food. Great outdoors seats tables. However nobody seem to worry about Covid 19. Waiter waitress bar staff nobody wear mask or face shield Just hand sanitizer provided front of the toilet. During all dinner I did not notice even once no one to clean or sanitise tables and benches.
This is a review of the food we recently had at the Nightingale. We usually go for drinks and to enjoy the atmosphere, but we decided on this occasion to try a Sunday Roast. This was a tremendous mistake and one we don't intend to repeat. We firstly had to return the Yorkshire Puddings as they were burnt to a crisp - they shouldn't have been sent to the table, they were that burnt. Both portions were generous, but lukewarm and very salty. The carrots were burnt, roast potatoes were stale, although the meat roast chicken and roast beef were okay, though not great. At the end we didn't eat much of the it, but to make it worse, I've had a bad stomach ever since I had the meal. I've had roast dinners all over London, and this was one of the worst meals I've had in a long while. I'd rather pay more for a smaller portion and actually enjoy the food. Great pub, but please do something about the food quality.
Not been here since the mid 1970's. Various alterations but still the same pub. Nice garden at rear. £5.15 for a pint of ordinary seems a bit steep.
