Niche Living is a interiors business in the busy little market town of Barnard Castle. It has a unique and interesting stock of home decorations, furniture, home ware and gifts from contemporary to quirky. It has some exclusive stock too, like Farrow and Ball, Voyage, India Jane, LSA, Garden Trading and Emma Bridgewater.

Nice store, overly priced, rude staff
We went into Niche two days ago 7.12.17 and bought some very nice X-mas type candles. Not the cheapest but you get what you pay for and they are very nice. We were very impressed with the staff and in particular the lady who served us. We saw a very nice silver table lamp at just over £100 and there were some very nice X-mas decorations. We called in tonight at 4.55pm to buy the lamp and probably about £30 to £50 worth of decorations which would have taken minutes, we'd been in earlier whilst out walking and had more or less decided what we wanted to buy. We were met by a woman who I guess was the owner and to be very honest I think she was probably one of the most unprofessional business people I have met. She made it quite clear they were about to close and when we explained that we were actually there to buy goods she said we'd have to be quick as it was Saturday and the staff needed to be away. We left the shop slightly bemused and I rang a few minutes later to be told again that the staff needed to be away as it was Saturday and she couldn't be in the shop on her own. In that case, why not close the shop 15 minutes earlier. I hope to be living in this area for quite a long time and there are plenty other places to spend my money because I definitely won't be going back there.
