Newmarket is the home of racehorses....still seen in the morning being walked up numerous roads on the way to/from the gaps.nnNumerous cafe, bar and restaurant options, hotels and B&Bs. Located in Suffolk; regular train service on the Ipswich to Cambridge railway line. Also coach services to and from London airports. Only a 35 minute drive to Cambridge.nnVisit on race days to see the town really come to life. Racing is always an excellent day out, don't miss the Friday Nights if you enjoy a combination of racing and live music...some big names come to Newmarket annually.nnVisit the National Horse Racing Museum, National Stud, The Gallops, and for a full experience visit on a training yard open day.nnA must visit for anyone with a passion for horses.nnWhat's not to love.
Newmarket has very little to recommend it now. Kitchen and Things is very useful and Tindalls. Last time I had coffee there people were drinking in the streets and throwing the cans and bottles on the pavement. It is not unusual to see people buying or selling drugs.
The saving grace if you end up in Newmarket the train station , Newmarket is generally a slum except for when horse racing is on at Newmarket and the rather dull place suddenly springs into life making for a great day out ,nnThe quality of the train service providing regular links to and from Cambridge and Ipswich is very high ,nNewmarket station has a Ticket Machine with the option to have assistance when buying a ticket through the machine too ,nStation has a help point making travel from the rather out the way station much more reassuring ,nnNewmarket also is step free making travel in a wheelchair effortless on and off trains without need for any ramps etcnnGreater Anglia has added the luxury to Newmarket with the quality of the trains that serve the line , 5*
Everything is good other than the Horse Flies
No toilets but it does have an Amazon pickup point. Could do with a coffee kiosk…..
