Newark Castle and Gardens

That was my third trip to Newark from Nottingham, this time by bike, all the way through the Trent River side an beautiful meadows (sometimes without any road). Remains of old castle are still impressive, well preserved and they are majestic. Good place for a weekend trip, picnic or just for watching great views and the panorama from it.

Lovely historic castle and grounds overlooking the river Trent. Info points explaining history around the grounds, and guided tours of the castle including underground and higher up. During the summer there are bands and other events as well as civil war reenactments. There's a lovely boat trip that leaves from just next to the castle which is fab.

A really interesting site to visit in Newark Upon Trent. Well maintained grounds with plenty of seating and open spaces. A 2 minute walk from the town centre or gives access to a very pleasant riverside walk.

In spite of its ruined condition, Newark Castle is still evocative, sitting amongst beautiful gardens next to the River Trent. When the tower is open, climb the 70 steps to the top for a great vista of Newark.

Very nice place a historic city with lots too do great place for family day out boat trips lots of nice shops and a large market
