Books were very reasonably priced. The shop owner was very friendly and helpful. After enquiring as to what book I was looking for the assistant was able to find the author for me and find the book I was looking for. The price was very reasonable and the book condition was excellent. The assistant/owner was extremely helpful. I will certainly visit the store again.
I have been visiting many times over the years now. This is where I bought my first manga, I have started many series here! Great prices! Lovely staff, they support local authors too! They can order books in on request as well, what's not to love? We must keep local businesses like this alive! Thank you New To You Books for being a home of escapism to me and my family. I love this store. I used to visit it all the time 20 years ago when it was in southsea, now it’s closer to home for me so I’m very happy! The daughter of the original owner now runs the business and she’s just as lovely as her mum who served me all those years ago. I always manage to find some great books in here that you can’t get in the likes of Waterstones etc. The prices as also brilliant and I’ve saved so much money as a result. Most books are literally a pound or two for the secondhand ones. They now also sell a small selection of new books which is a nice addition. I look forward to coming back here for many years to come.
A small bookshop but well stocked and probably the best in Portsmouth for those looking for something different beyond the "top twenty" popular titles stocked by places like Waterstones etc. For military history it is probably without doubt the best on the south coast for both current books and second hand. It also carries some titles currently in print at discounted prices. Also its collection of local books and booklets is first class. I visit Portsmouth every month or so and and don't bother with Waterstones but this place is a must. A great find.
I purposely came up from Pompey to find certain books. Sadly I didn't find them but secondhand bookshops are to be treasured. Plus they have bus models and more. Folk need to support such shops.
Fantastic little shop, called this morning to see if they had a book I was after and they happily put it aside for me. Ended up buying a few more books and bits while I was there, great selection and very well priced.
Great selection of used books at very reasonable prices, covering all genres, lots of non fiction too. A great place to browse.
A great find. Really good selection of Military stuff and even some boxes of old comics on the counter. if you want a stack of old Starblazer comics or a book about WW2, check this place out.
